  1. in my explorer I have a dimebucker at the bridge and a pearly gates at the neck, they blend well and the dimebucker screams but is still very controllable
  2. I've played an acrylic guitar, not a jem but a strat and a warlock, they weight a ton!!!! and they don't sustain as well as you might think.
  3. I'll put together a little photo album of my guitars after Christmas. And yes the trigger is the pick-up selector
  4. I dig it, but then again I'm a little strange considering I have one guitar shaped like a machine gun, another is a carved skull with rib cage and I just started making an aluminum broad axe guitar, yeah I'm sick
  5. Thanks guys that helps alot. I think I might try to reinforce it with aluminum, it's easier to cut the steel and easier to get the carbon fiber. Bras might work well too. Sam
  6. Hi All, I'm thinking about building a neck with a custom headstock similiar to an old BC Rich design. http://www.bcrich.com/techinfo/specs/heads...ocks/index.html the one labeled as V-shape but I want the center cut out to go further down closer to the nut. This will be a 6 string so my question is, do you think maple will be strong enough to hold? It seems to me that there might be too much pressure on the "wings" once the center is cut away, what do you guys think? Sam
  7. Hi guys, Thanks for all your input. I sent this question into floyd rose and am waiting to hear back from them. Sam
  8. The carvin blank has the fret board already installed and the speedloader bridge has a set scale with double bullet end strings so if I move the bridge I need to move the nut, it's tricky. And carvin only makes the 25" scale which is a problem
  9. Kinkos can do it for $10 a square foot, gets expensive but it's worth it.
  10. Hi All, I have a question regarding the difference between scale lenght for a guitar neck. I am interested in purchasing the carvin neck-thru blank that has a 25" scale but I want to use a speedloader on it which only comes in either 24.75" or 25.5" scale. Is there anyway to make up for this difference? Maybe changing the nut location? Any ideas would be great. I'm guessing if my scale lenght is off my intonation and tuning will never be correct. Thanks, Sam
  11. Hi Brian, Yes that's what I'm looking for, any ideas? Sam
  12. Ok if you think the music yo kramers are bad I got two Hondos!!! Yes I said Hondo, I have a M16 machine gun and a revival explorer. Now they might be made in korea or china but grover tuning machines, dimazio pups, set neck on the explorer and solid woods. They might not be great but considering what you get for your dollar these days they sound good and play great, they are also from the 70's-80's and that might have something to do with it.
  13. There's another problem with the carvin and or most other neck-through blanks, they're not the right scale for a Les Paul. Now find a person making neck-throught blanks in 24.75, 25 and 25.50 and we are all set!
  14. Hi All, Does anyone know where I can get a full contact knife edge tremolo, non locking? Thanks, Sam
  15. Well I'm a radio engineer for a wireless communication company. I live in NJ, have a girlfriend, a 1956 chevy pick-up, a 2001 trans am and a piece-o-crap gmc jimmy and i own more guitars then i can count. That's my life in a nutshell. Sam
  16. I would love to get a neal Moser but unfortently I can't afford one of his guitars. Well I could but my finacee would shoot me, several times, in the head.
  17. It's a 24 fret full 2 octave neck. Ed had a whole bunch of black korina laying around and this was made before quicksilver guitars came out so he wasn't that busy. He said it would take 9 months to glue, assemble and rough cut, well it took him 9 months on the dot. I've heard lately that his time schedule is up to 2 years these days.
  18. Thanks for the fix Brian. It took so long because someone stole it from me and it took over a year to get it back, long story but always check your resources before you hand over a guitar for work. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Sam
  19. See it here Hi All, Well after 3 + years of working on this guitar it's done. I designed the neck-thru construction with he v headstock and explorer body. Ed Roman did the rough cut and I finish shaped, finish sanded, routed the control cavity, installed the electronics and sprayed it with lacquer. It has a SD pearly gate in the neck and a dimebucker in the bridge. 2 tone and 2 volume with a 5 way rotary switch for a pick-up selector. It's made from black limba, korina with a rosewood fret board and medium frets. So I didn't do everything myself but it has given me enough ideas and experince to build my next project. Sam
  20. I saw that Ed had some for sale but lately I've been hearing a lot of bad things about him. Normally this is not a problem when yopu buying a guitar he doesn't make but I heard that a lot of the Bich's he has are not real and they are made by him in his shop.
  21. Hi Dave, Thanks but I'm looking for a neck-thru 10 string. The new ones aren't too expensive but I want the vibe of an original one. Sam
  22. Hi all, I'm looking for a 10 string Bich if you or someone you know has one for sale please drop me a line. Thanks, Sam
  23. Speaking of shector's, are those guitars any good?
  24. Hi Wes, What are you calling the bottom insert? Sam
