I am trying to find where I read it from, but I definitely did see that it could be damaging to your head to use a shielded cable. I don't get any of this so don't ask me!

I meant we are not supposed to use shielded regular patch cables.

Anyone got any suggestions on which to get? Stupid question, I know, but I read it has to be unshielded...

My mesa doesn't bring the Metal heheh.

I currently have the Mesa combo and while it does sound good, I have an oppertunity to pick up a Peavey 5150 combo for 750$ Canadian. I know that I have to just play them both to really know which one I want in the end, but in addittion to that, I'd like to get some opinions from you guys! So let's hear them! Thanks a lot!

to answer the questions, my hawk is a solid body. I tried it with the pickups all the way down and it still feedsback. It comes in slowly then wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaahhhhhh haha. As for my amp haha, it's a Mesa studio .22+. I didn't make any of these sounds before i put the pickups in so I just assumed it was my crappy wiring hehe. I may try the surgical tubing. So it is normal that I can hear every movement with my strap locks?

I absolutely love it. Problem is with the gain up, as soon as I take my hand off the strings, it starts to squeel and hum. Put my hand back on and it's quiet. On my clean channel there doesn't seem to be any problem at all..... Also noticed that when playing with my strap locks, I can hear every movement they make through my amp. Any other suggestions?

I put in a .047 cap and switched one of my gibson pots to a 500k because i broke a piece off of the original. I am pretty sure gibson had 500K pots for the volume and tone before hand anyways. I might change the tone pot as well, just in case, since there are no markings on it. It's very possible that's the difference you're hearing. Even a pot change *can* change the sound, not all pots sweep range are exactly the same and some have minor resistance differences wide open. Between that and the cap is probably what you're hearing. I ended up changing both pots to new 500k allparts pots. I put in that .047 cap and I must say that both my seymour duncans sound AMAZING! There was a problem with the pots and wiring from the previous user, everything sounded like crap. But now it sounds amazing, and the tone pot really changes the sound now. I get quite a bit of feedback but it's tolerable for now. I'll have to figure that part out next.

You sir are mistaken.

I am assuming that you had your guitar setup to play in drop C. By tuning it to standard you put on quite a bit more tension than the bridge was willing to take. I suggest getting your bridge fixed, getting lighter strings and also a setup. It sucks but you can't just go from standard tuning to drop C and vice versa without any problems. It's sorted out but it still gives me quite a bit of feedback. When i mute the strings it doesnt feedback though. I'm getting fed up haha. Stupid grounds.

Hehehe, I kind of figured. But since the people who had replied to my thread about my electrical problems told memy soldering really sucks, I cleaned everything up and really took the time to make it perfect. So I didn't really feel like desoldering right away ehehe.

Thanks Lovekraft! Now for the weird part hehe, my tone pot is giving me .452, but this put doesn't really have a third lug. So I am just placing the meter on the metal part where the lug would be. My volume pot is giving me 5.11

I have one that has no obvious inscription on it that would tell me if it's 500K or not. I have a multimeter, is there anything I can do to figure out what it's value is?

I have a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. For awhile I only had a JB in the bridge and it sounded better distorted. Now that I have the SH-2 installed in the neck, even with my switch on the bridge position, it sounds pretty different. Not as much bite, bassier. The cleans are nothing short of amazing, however. What are your experiences with them? What do you like/dislike?

I am sure none of you actually give a ****, but I re-soldered everything and it's working perfectly now. You obviously haven't read the rules - may I suggest you do so now, before you get into trouble.
