  1. on the last one they got covered with the clear coat, but obviously i didnt think about that this time. ah well, do it again i suppose
  2. well i think iv found the reason - my stupidity. shocking! lol. when iv been sanding the mirror iv been doing it with wet n dry, wet obviously, and the water has gone into the wood through the tuner holes and the wood has expanded quite drastically - almost a mm in places. ah well. be more careful next time then
  3. its just regular areldite. or however you spell it. im sure any brand would do the trick. just make sure that when you're clamping, to cover the whole of the mirror with something, rather than a few little things, otherwise it can and does distort
  4. well i've used epoxy and so far its worked. obviously ignore todays mishap. but the purple guitar is still stuck fast after a year almost
  5. where the bend is is fine. thats still stuck nice and firm. its along the straight edge of the headstock. who knows why. it just did. the bastard. and i got it looking all pretty and everything. looked like chrome. ooooooo hehe
  6. i used epoxy, which i used on the previous one, and there have been no problems with that one in the year (almost) that its been done
  7. by flatting i mean flatting the finish. and the change in weather could have something to do with it i suppose, but if thats the case, why has my purple one not been affected at all? and thats been through very hot and very cold weather. it just seems strange that it only happened after i had polished up the mirror. i dont know, maybe there was a weak glue joint or something. it better not happen again is all i can say! or i'll grrrrrrr at it very menacingly
  8. well, the neck would have been finished today. WOULD have. but noooooo, we cant have that now can we. id sanded andpolished the face plate and it looked better than it did before - almost like chrome. i was just starting to flat the neck when i heard a crack. i looked but couldnt see anything and assumed it must have been from outside or something. a couple of seconds later however i heard another crack. i looked again and saw to my horror that the mirror had started to lift up on the tuner side. i couldnt believe it! and i cant understand why its done it. but it has. so now rather than being finished its got clamps all over it again. damn it!
  9. its acrylic mirror and it could be used for inlay material i should think.
  10. just a quick catch up. everythings been sprayed. will flat the neck and hopefully get that finished tomorrow. then over the next week flat and polish the body and get it wired. and that should be it.
  11. link - that should help. the colour coding on your pickups is probably different tho.
  12. dont know what any are lik cos i havent made any, but theres lots on here general guitar gadgets
  13. thanks. its etched onto the mirror from underneath with a tiny dremel bit and fille with ebony dust and epox. but it looks more like a wood or stone effect now. happy accident
  14. i dont think theres any difference which side you do it from. just be careful with it
  15. i use a dremel type thing with a small router bit in it. slower, but at least it doesnt crack
  16. there are people from all over the place on here. im noticing more uk people recently too, but theres plenty from everywhere else. and yeah i just read it and it does sound a bit 'im on my knees begging for you to forgive me!!!!' hehe. so i changed it. AND took off the guestbook page too, it was just too risky and as someone wrote on there, people could say anything and it would be attributed to me cos its my site. and metal matts asked mr. moser if he would like to talk to me about all this, and he's waiting for a reply, so i guess i'll just have to wait for that. also, you better all be chearing for liverpool tonight!!! if not, well, you're poopers. hehe
  17. i realise i hijacked my own thread here, so i thought i might as well add an update the necks prett much done apart from the finish and a polish to the mirror here are the control cavity covers. you can see how im mounting the other three fuzz factory controls here so that they arent cluttering the top up like on mine, but are also easily adjusted on the back. the knobs dont stick out at all so wont be able to be caught accidentally
  18. hehehe i've added a page to my website now, so hopefully people can now see that i never meant to cause any of this grief. and why are we fighting amongst ourselves? surely we must be united against the common enemy -simon cowell and his 'talent show' cronies!!!
  19. drawknife - i too am just a regular guy making guitars in my garage. the nly big tools i have is a drill press and a router - thats pretty much it. so yeah im not a cnc churning millions a day out kind of guy. as i said before, the reasn i didnt put anything about the moser guitar on my site is that i plain and simple forgot all about it. i know that might sound like a poor excuse, but thats just how it is. and for the record - i never called anyone stupid or a muppet. lol the reason i didnt take any messages from my guestbook is simply that if i had done that, i thought it might fuel more hatred - ie: taken off the bad ones and leaving the good ones. and rooster - as for taking more than just the wave - do you mean the fact that its a figured maple top, or a twin cutaway, or an offset lower bout, or a three-a-side headstock, or clean maple edges? i think gibson and fender and prs and anyone else who's ever used any of these things would have cause for complaint then. the simple and HONEST truth, is that the ONLY thing i took from that guitar was the shape of the wave. any other similarity is due to the fact that thats what suits the guitar better. i tried lots of different things, and this was the one that looked best to me. anyway, i await talking to mr. moser. in the meantime, i'll put some more things on my website, and see if it makes it worse or better and to further add to this - i was inspired by this guitar before i saw the moser one. harrison guitars
  20. its all well and good that you should have your say as much as the posters on here should have theirs, and i agree that you should be diligent about people copying others designs. what i dont agree with is the way people from your forum have gone about this. there have been personal attacks toward me which are totally uncalled for. in no way have i tried to deliberately decieve people or try to conceal the fact that i took the inspiration for my guitar from that of the vangerov guitar. the reason it isnt mention on my site is for the simple fact that i simply forgot all about it until this started kicking off. anyway, iv pm-ed metal matt so that i can talk to mr. moser directly and see if we can get all this srted, and get the downright nasty and hateful comments to stop
  21. i know! cheeky bugger. hehe well, wise or not, iv sent a message via the contact page on the moser site, to see if this is a genuine message, or just forum people with scare tactics. iv been very nice and pleasant, and have made my, and your feelings about the 'copying' known. so i shall await a reply from them
  22. got this today "MCS Uk: Dear Sir,after discussion we feel we have no alternative to ask you to withdraw this model or we shall issue a cease and desist as you have already stated that this is where you have got your design from.MCS Uk take forgery of a design very seriously. Feel free to contact me at mcsguitars@lycos.com. You selling designs taken from MCS guitars will not be tolerated. Thanks,Ron" now this was posted on the guestbook on my website, NOT emailed to me in reply to an email i sent to them. this seems very odd to me. what do people think?
  23. thanks for the kind words. like you say, it doesnt seem as though any of them would even try to listen to me, as im STILL getting emails and messages along the lines of - 'what will you 'design' next, a les paul?' o dear. but yeah, id still like to see this forum post about me and maybe i can at least try talking to them
  24. no i didnt think you were attacking me. they are tho lol. can you put the link on so i can read it?
  25. im trying to sell them yes, along with a single cut version. go over to my site (freewebs page link at the bottom) to see them and the comments! it is all rather silly, and seeming worse as it goes on. they're attacking me for stealing all my 'ideas' (as they put it) from neil moser. yet the only thing they can be talking about is that wave, which is from a gitar that moser makes but DIDNT design. so their arguement isn even correct. but anyway, i'll jus have to wait and see what happens i guess
