  1. Finally got the truss rod cover, only took 5 weeks to arrive. bling bling
  2. Thanks! I had to do a sneak preview of how the jr. would look like. Also, glow dots.
  3. Thanks for checking! They're both around 9.5k. I like the neck, I wanted something with a smoother top end.
  4. LP jr. progress. Cut the truss rod channel and neck pocket, routed the neck shape and fretboard.
  5. LP jr. build hasn't progressed much. At least I got the P90 wound for it.
  6. Took me a while to get a sound clip done. Some sloppy random noodling:
  7. To reduce tearout: first bandsaw as close to the line as you can, route slow and multiple passes if you have more than 1mm of material to remove. A new bit helps too. I can't really see but if that paper is placed on the line, but if it is I'd take a lot more out with the bandsaw.
  8. Just to throw it out there, but calipers? You can get them at least to a meter sized.
  9. Thanks guys! Now onto the LP jr. I think I'll need to redo the P90 I wound for it, it only ended up having 3.5k DC resistance.
  10. Done and done. Soundclip to come tomorrow. Dark and stormy today, so lighting is what it is.
  11. 12th build for me, first time for LP style. Quilted sapele top Flamed maple veneer in the middle Khaya back Quartersawn honduran mahogany neck Ebony board w/ slight quilt Jescar ss frets Handwound pickups 50's wiring Gotoh hardware Truoil finish. Headstock covered with britetone to seal the decal.
  12. Never used these Dunlop straplocks but the part on the guitar looks neat. Cut the nut, installed hardware, truss rod cover still in the mail and then it's 100%. Prolly need to shield the cavities too.
  13. Coat 5, getting a slight gloss. These coats go on very thin. I saw someone tru oil a rifle with a paper ball inside a t-shirt to get an even thin coat and his results were extremely glossy. Paper soaks up the oil and makes a pretty good applicator from the shirt. Been doing it that way since.
  14. Pickups done. Had to do a sneaky test, just pressed the wires against the guitar cable. Really like the tone. Waiting for the nut, will install rest of the electrics next. Also ran into the oh so lovely problem of having different shades of cream hardware.
  15. Bridge humbucker done, alnico 5. Neck next.
  16. Forgot to take a pic of the glueup. But frets and fretboard on, volute shape finalized. Jescar ss frets. Seating the frets.
  17. Thanks! Wait til I get some proper finish on it. Filling the grain with shellac now, then truoil.
  18. First coat of shellac. Camera really doesn't do it justice, really pleased how it looks. Headstock routed flush.
