  1. Awesome man, This bass is going to be too amazing for words when its done =D
  2. Not only does it mean you can get the action lower because the string will move less, i.e less buzz with the strings pretty close to the frets. With a good bass and amp you can get just as much beef out in a bass line playing softly. Also you can always turn up the amp. Another reason is speed, i don't know about anyone else but i find it much easier to play fast lines probably due to lesser range of motion.
  3. What's a ramp? I piece of wood that goes in between (or sometimes over) the pickups, which acts as a physical reminder to play softly. I fitted one to my Warwick I find them really helpful.
  4. Really nice wood combs, can't wait to see it done =D

  11. Hey Guys, So I'm trying to get started on this build again because I have a part time job now and I can actually afford it. I worked it out just a minute ago that this build started 2 and a half years ago, although it has probably been on hold for 1 and a half or even 2 years. So I my first issue with the bass as that i need to re-do the neck because it has twisted, but I don't know where to get wood from as the wood I originally got, I got on holiday in South Africa. So if anyone can give me some ideas on where i can get some wood or wants to sell me some wood that would be great. Here's the dimensions I'm looking for: Width: 3" Depth: Either 1" or 1.5" Length: 45" As for what type of wood it is I'm open to anything even laminated necks. If you have anything or know where i can get some wood please post here or PM me. Here's some pictures of my build: Click Here =D Cheers, Travis
  12. Looks awesome, Can't wait to see the finished product =D
  13. I'm looking for a piece of wood to replace the neck in the bass I'm working on as the neck has twisted. I am open to most any types of woods and laminated necks would be cool as well but not necessary, If anyone has anything that might be suitable please let me know. Here are the dimensions I'm looking for: Width: 3" Depth: Either 1" or 1.5" Length: 45" The reason the width can be 1" or "1.5 is because i have a left over piece of maple to pad out the width through the body so either will do the job. Here's the bass as it stands: http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0014gw1.jpg Cheers, Travis
