  1. Recently while exploring ebay for parts I came across this store called Green Lake Guitar and Music. They don't seem to have much, but there was an ash body blank that was pretty cheap. Does this seem any good, or should I go somewhere else for wood? I'm kinda poor right now so that price was kinda appealing..... :D Any comments would be appreciated.

  2. Turns out I'm still not that pro by any means, it's still got a couple gaps.
What do you mean you aren't a pro? That looks amazing! :D I would be proud to call that my own, and I'd even pay for you that inlay, but sadly I don't have any extra wood to send you at the moment....but some lucky person will be thrilled to get that. Great work. :D
  3. Thanks for all the advice Mickguard. B) Since you're wondering what projects I'm working on I'll tell you. I just finished a saga kit (still having those wiring troubles though) and I currently don't have enough money to start a new guitar, so I've actually been working on a dulcimer I started long ago. All of my questions in the past have generally been about two builds that I eventually want to do...a flying v and a prs-ish maple top. I figured I'd do the flying v first and keep it really simple, then move on to the harder project. And if I'm going to make it nice, then I think I will listen to you and get better hardware. Seems to me that you like Stewmac better...? Anyway, right now I've just been doing lots of research on how I want to make my guitars when the time comes (stupid college wastes a lot of my money :D )

EDIT: About that top loading bridge in your link, it says that it requires a routed channel in the guitar body. What exactly does that mean? If the strings don't go through the body, does something else? If so, that's not exactly top loading.... :D

  4. Thanks. That's what I thought about the bridge too, I just wanted to confirm it. :D And sorry to change topic slightly, but I was thinking that a wraparound bridge might be nice instead (just an idea for now). Has anyone used this one before and happens to know the radius? It looks the nicest to me out of the ones on that site. And Mickguard, I think I've read that you've used wraparounds before. Not sure if this is the same as the one you used before, but any comments? Mainly for all these bridges I was just wanting to know the radius' and how easy they are to install.... Sorry for all the questions guys, thanks for putting up with me. :D

  5. It would be cool to do something like what Nitefly SA suggested. Couldn't find a great picture, but this gives you the basic idea. You could show the wood, and a design. It would take a talented person to pull it off....and I think you could do it. :D

  6. I love your guitars that I've seen before, but if I recall, most of them were with "good looking wood." You could continue this and make another exotic one, or you could do something different and try a cool graphic. Doesn't matter to me, I'll be excited to see your work either way. :D

  7. Hello. I was looking at this hardtail bridge from guitar fetish and it doesn't really give much information about it. I was wondering if anyone has used it and could answer some questions.

    1. It doesn't say anything about how it is installed. I don't think I'd need to use a router for anything but the strings are probably fed through the body and I use ferrules, right? It doesn't say anything about being top loading.....

    2. Does anybody happen to know the radius? I was hoping to use this with a 12" radius fingerboard....

If anybody has used this bridge or knows about it then I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. :D

  8. The idea of using angle grinder is to CUT the wood with the discs... NOT TO SAND it away until the desired shape
:D I'm confused. I thought it was used for sanding away the wood. There have been several threads recently where people said they used a grinder to make the belly cuts and arm contours. I did what Mattia suggested and watched that Hamer tour, and it looked more like they were sanding than cutting. Well, either way, you all have convinced me to get a grinder. Thanks. :D
  9. Hmmm..looks like a multi-laminate body. Do you know what kinds of wood it's made of? The side wings look like they would stain well, but some of the small inner strips look like they may not take stain as well. A solid color paint job would work, but I can't recommend any stain until I know what wood it is....I'm sure others will chip in with their advice though. :D

  10. Hmmm....I'm not so sure the top one is a strat body. It looks like it is slightly different, like a strat rip-off by some other company or something. The body and especially the pickguard seem a bit longer, like it's stretched out. And the one horn seems a little wide. I might be wrong, but it doesn't look like a fender strat.

  11. Sorry for the double post. I tried to take picture of what I meant about the wire. Here is a link to the picture- wires.I know it is a horrible picture, but you can kind of see where the wire is coming apart. Would this keep it from having any sound? Should I solder it together better? Any comments would be appreciated.

  12. Sorry to bother you Drak, but can I ask you a question? In the last few months that I've been looking at this site I've seen several of your projects. You usually post pictures of the finished body, but I don't think I've ever seen any of your projects with the hardware or the neck installed. Just curious, but why do you stop posting progress after the body is built? These are amazing guitars and I'd like to see the whole thing sometime.

  13. Great job! :D I like the acoustic, especially the sapele back, that's some nice wood you got there. And the electric is cool too, it resembles a les paul but has subtle differences that make it a little more unique. I only have one question....why did you make the inlays like that? The double dots at unusual spots would confuse me. :D
