  1. Love it ...... looks like quality workmanship.
  2. Hi Bart, here's a couple of images of a neck through semi hollow pre finish.....the wings are chambered out to about 20 mm from the edges, the area to the front of the neck pick up has been left solid. The wings have been glued at a very slight angle to the neck, so to facilitate carving and shaping. It is possible to put a complete top on, but this requires a little more planing, and a lot more carving! Cheers, Doug.
  3. Thanks RG. The Qld Maple auctions are always well subscribed !
  4. Here's a little Gem from 1986 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv10g5YKNDU Enjoy!

I only know Her as DG10......I try, to not get too attached, so She doesn't have a name, but perhaps she could be called Daintree. She's an excellent Performer, with a broad range, very fast and smooth.
  6. Hey Joshvegas....I'm not too much into the Snake, but I do like the sycamore and rosewood Neck, and the Ash Body. The Tele setup is a nice simple choice too. You better get that work bench shifted soon!
  7. Thanks Dean.....Your works not bad either. I see your into "F",or should I say "G" Holes Too!! And I like the strap Idea.
  8. ......Sorry bout these doubled up posts....Don't know if it was me or the computer that I was on. I've just got my main machine back online....so good after using that old laptop. Just a bit of a test now, going to post an image of something that I'm still working on so I hope this works Thanks for putting up with my rambling Just previewed it, and every thing's in order.... This is a Semi Hollow Neck Through in Australian Tone Woods, [except for the Finger Board, which is Gabon Ebony]. Woods are...Black Bean, Yellow Sirus And Rose Mahogany, I think the colours are self explanatory, as to what wood is what. Cheers,Doug.
  9. Thanks for the welcome and positive comments Stu. I don't really pump them out....not as much as I'd like to anyway. I've done a dozen, with three on the go at the moment. There not all like the DG10 though. I've got to say your work's right up there....very nice, I do like the figured Tasmanian Oak.and Queensland Maple is one of my favorites! See if you can get hold of some Maple SilkWood, [Flindersia pimenteliana as opposed to Flindersia brayleyana] It's just a little denser than Qld Maple, you won't be disappointed! I too, [as you might have guessed], am into promoting the Aussie Tone Woods, we've got some fantastic stuff here that the rest of the world is just starting to discover.....one of my current builds is a multi lamination of Black Bean,Yellow Sirus and Rose Mahogany, done in the same style as the DG10. When I get back on my main computer I'll put up a few images of this build. For the moment, this laptop is driving me crazy!!! I don't know if it's it or the connection to the net.... All the best ,Doug.
  10. Hey Muzz, you got me with the Sat Connection, that's how I connect to the net too, 1024 / 256...I'm pretty remote, the Daintree. I wouldn't have it any other way though.....I'll get some images up once I get back on my main machine, it's down at the moment, should be back on line after the weekend. BTW, I've got a mate on Cockatoo Island digging out iron ore, that must be up in the same sort of area.
  11. Hi All, So, having lurked for so long, I finally feel I should introduce myself. My name's Doug, and I'm based in Far North Queensland, Australia. I think of myself as an Artist / Musician, but I'm really a Silversmith and Designer, with some Musical ability....I've been involved in all facets of Music for over 30 years, Player, Producer and Engineer. I'm a very passionate person when it comes to Music and the Arts ! I started building Guitars and Basses seriously, about 5 years ago....I don't know how serious I should take the whole " Luthier" thing....I've sold a few of my Guitars. Don't know why it took me so long to get into building...it's something I toyed around with for years. Too busy I guess, you know...working, playing, surviving, all the normal stuff. But after the first one, a Bass, it was like a light bulb coming on.....I should be doing more of this!! Anyway, I'm on a laptop at the moment and don't have access to any of my images, so I,m going to post a link to my YouTube Channel......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swLYWwe9sEQ.....I've got a slide show clip of a Build that was completed in October last year....I think it's worth checking out. Let me know what you think! When I'm back on my normal computer I'll enter it, or another similar one, in the Guitar of the Month, and see how it goes! Anyway, I want to say thanks to Brian for putting together a great Web Site [donation coming soon], and I'm looking forward to being a bit more of a participant in these Forums, maybe even writing a Tutorial or something!
