  1. Quick update. I started wet sanding today. Here is the guitar with the fingerboard tape off before I starting sanding.
  2. With magic.........actually I will fish it from the bridge pickup cavity through the semi hollow chamber.
  3. Here it is after the color!!!! back front
  4. This is the only picture I have of the insides(camera phone). I Hollowed out, then put a mahogany back on. This wasn't my first choice and next time I will do it differently. This is the first LP style guitar that I have built and is also the first carved top where I had to put the neck angle into the top. After realizing that my body would end up thinner at the neck joint than I originally wanted, I decided to make it a semi-hollow the way PRS did thiers so I could get the extra thickness.
  5. Thanks. The neck and back came from your area. I got them from Marc at Gilmer. He always has really nice stuff.
  6. Thanks. I think adding dark laminates would have looked great, but for this project I wanted the neck to be one uniform color.
  7. I just got this in the booth tonight and I am really pumped to get this done. This is the third guitar this year and is going to be killer. I really love the neck carve, fret access, and I guess the top is alright as well . specs East coast maple top, figured mahogany back(semi-hollow), 3-piece flame maple neck(.825-.900), stripped ebony board and headcap, 25" scale, gotoh hardware, and I'm pretty sure it will end up in a cherry sunburst, Here are a few more shots back top neck joint (a little blurry) back
  8. That is true, but they are better priced than a lot of places out there (I found this out when I was looking for quilted mahogany) and they get some really pretty stuff!
  9. I'll give it a shot. This is my latest completed guitar, the purple monster. Body-quilted mahogany Top-East coast flame maple Neck-Indian rosewood w/ Indian rosewood fingerboard and headcap 25" scale length Figured pearl/paua abalone inlay Gold hardware-tonepros bridge, gotoh tuners, brass side dots Duncan custom-custom/Jazz pickups with CTS pots and RS tone cap. 7.5 lbs! Tone-killer top back headstock random shot
  10. Sweet guitar! I love figured mahogany and have used it on my last two guitars. Here's a shot of a two piece quilted mahogany back.
  11. I graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in '02 and so far I have built 9 guitars in my spare time. The stain is a mix of red and blue colortone from stewmac and I used McFadden's nitro lacquer. Here is a much better shot of the body. A few more shots Headstock inlay Full back at an angle Full back Full shot Here are some shots of the last project After spraying burst Paua inlaid boise de rose headcap Full back Paua inlay Full front
  12. Yes I posted this on mimf as well. I didn't want it laying in the dirt either, that's why I put it on the grass
  13. Thanks. The guitar sounds/plays amazing. I love the unfinished rosewood neck and the carve (.835-.935) is perfect for me. The guitar hardly weighs in over 7 lbs and rings like a bell. The whole guitar just vibrates when you strum a chord.
  14. I just found this place and thought I would share my latest guitar project. Its obviously based off a PRS but with hints of rickenbacker and even schecter. Here are the specs: Quilted mahogany back with flamed East coast maple top, Indian rosewood neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and headcap, 25" scale, jumbo frets, figured pearl and paua inlays, gotoh tuners, tonepros wraparound bridge, CTS pots w/RS cap, and Seymour Duncan custom-custom/jazz pickups. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL19/198486...6/172656009.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL19/198486...6/172655988.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL19/198486...6/172656034.jpg
