  1. looking at your thread inspired me to come up with a single cut design of my own
  2. did you buy from ibanezrules? cause i don't think rich's prices vary much, especially not like that.
  3. 350 for an edge pro? they're 265 from ibanezrules in gold... sounds like you got ripped off.
  4. for the RGA style carves i use the edge of my belt sander to rough them in, for more dished carves i use a flap wheel attached to my drill press.
  5. haven't updated this in a while, the blue RGA7 is coming along nicely. i refinished it since the last photo, because waterbased finish is just junk. theres 1 run in this one right now, it'll be flat sanded tomorrow, so its not a big deal really. there is also one spec of dirt in the finish, underneath the run, that'll also be flat sanded tomorrow, just a bit of hair. the dust all over it isn't in the finish its just cause its been hanging in the shop to cure and i didn't blow it off before i snapped the pics
  6. extending the bevel in each cutaway would just look absurdly hot, imo.
  7. say it ain't so matt! thats cool, i still would address the upper fret access if it were my build
  8. upper fret access is going to be an issue on this one...
  9. bolted the neck on today, did the fretwork, dot inlays, shaped the neck heel, did a cooley style mod to the lower horn http://www.elysian-online.com/8StringProto/DSCF5231.JPG http://www.elysian-online.com/8StringProto/DSCF5232.JPG http://www.elysian-online.com/8StringProto/DSCF5233.JPG
  10. i built 4 full guitars while at Roberto-Venn, i'm "Adam Bath", first name on the list http://roberto-venn.com/Spring2006.htm i've also got a few replacement body builds going on that i've posted on this forum...
  11. itd only gonna have a bridge hum and neck single, so it'll keep it
  12. carved the neck today also refined the headstock a bit, i'm really happy with how it looks. http://www.elysian-online.com/8StringProto/DSCF5226.JPG http://www.elysian-online.com/8StringProto/DSCF5227.JPG and my hands are dirty cause i've been dealing with stain the last couple of days
  13. put in the order monday for custom wound nordstrand pickups, with a custom design to match my string spacing, and they're already done! i gotta finish a project and sell it so i can pay for them though, but i'm workin on it today, should have it done before the weekend is over.
  14. heres a quick mockup with tuners, put a texas ebony headcap on it, you can also see the ebony binding just a little bit. the binding isn't on the furthest part of the fretboard though, it will be tomorrow. i'm going to modify the headstock slightly, to bring the curved part under the low F# to where its quite a bit closer to the low F#. the tuners being "backwards" on the treble side of the headstock is intentional, i really liked how it looked on my Yamaha build(which is still not completed ).
  15. i'm not a fan of big headstocks, to be honest. especially if they have a chance of making a guitar neck heavy. this headstock is basically the same size as a lot of 6 string headstocks... i don't think more strings should equate to more headstock realty, personally. take the headstock on your green V for instance, its big enough to have 1 more tuner on it and be used on an 8, its not that appealing, especially with the shape of the body...
  16. because i had already put some shielding paint in there, didn't want to finish over it... not really necissary, i'm just gonna do the shielding paint afterwards from now on...
  17. i flat sanded it this morning and did 2 more coats today. solvent pop? this is a 2 part system, it has a hardener and a base, its like an epoxy, no solvent popping, because it doesn't disolve anything to dry. btw, it flat sanded like a dream, didn't even get much of the annoying buildup on the sandpaper that you have to scrape off, it was great. i also have to hold off on it for a while because the guy is out of town, and he hasn't shipped me the pickup yet, so it won't be going out the door for a couple of weeks.
  18. newspaper i shipped the mahogany one today, guy should get it in 2 days.
  19. put in the order for the custom wound nordstrand pickups today
  20. just a quick mockup, fretboard isn't glued on, just set in place. opinions on the headstock?
