    is it possible to use the preamp and other module components(compressor, fuzz, ringmodulator, etc.) from craig andertons book into and amp. does it need a power amp? how would you hook up a speaker to it?

    the original color is red. I'm planning on painting it arctic white will it show through? i would just rough up all of the body with that 100 grit sandpaper, by hand will work. then if you can i advise that once the whole body is rough, use a higher grit mayb 320 or even higher would be better after that, so that there arnt huge scratches in the body any more. if u r just using spray paint put down some primer, white will work but with an original bright finish i would use a grey primer. then put down some color. if u r using spray paint, what kind are u using? ive used krylon and it worked pretty well, but i read that they changed their formula and its not as good as before.

    so ur sanding off an existing finish? what kind of finish is already on the guitar? what grit sandpapers do u have/using? are you sanding by hand or by powersander?

    is this place any good because some of their deals just seem to good to b true. 100 resistors for $1 when its 5 resistors for $1 at radio shack.

    i was just given a small slab of purpel heart, about 1"x10"x12", so its to small to do anything major with. but i was wondering if theres any ideas on what to use it for. i just wanted to modify one of my existing guitars. could i use it for a nut and how would it sound? How about knobs, would that work? any other ideas?

    here, let me try again. i have a stock squier. it has a 5 way selector like this one http://www.guitarjonesusa.com/catalog/prod...6319303a256cb51 , with the pcb instead of how standard fender switches are. im doing a jerry garcia tiger wiring layout like this http://dozin.com/jers/guitars/tiger/schematic.html . i dont want to buy a new switch and was wondering if i could use the pcb switch in place of the standard kind? also i was wondering if there was a layout/diagram telling you which contact points are which. because they are all in one line on the pcb switch unlike the standard switch

    i need a .02uf cap but i hav 2 .01uf caps so could i wire them in series and make .02uf???? sorry for being an electronics noob but im working on it

    i know this was in the thread earlier but i dont want to find it and i dont kno if it was answered. i have a single coil that i want to modify w/ a driver and im having trouble w/ it. first i dont know if i should take the pole pieces out? they are also staggerd and would get in the way of the driver. second is the the magnets are glued to the bottom of the pickup and i dont kno if i need to take them off or not?

    cool guitars. mines a little different, its the hendrix saville theatre strat. the last guitar he played live in Europe before touring america. i think he might have lit this one on fire as well. i do know that he broke this one and threw it into audience. mines got the prayer on the back. do those ones also. heres the prayer http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/ze...ld/100_1314.jpg

    on the fetzer/ruby circuit do we need to use a 22n capacitor before the volume or are there any other options because i cant find a 22n cap.

    would it be possible to turn strat into a jem? i've got a old frankenstrat copy lying around that im bored of and would like to turn it into a jem or aleast something else.

    hey guys im new to this thread seems pretty cool but i dont want to look through the 165 pages. i dont really understand how to make any part of the sustainer. if you guys could will you please explain how to make it(specifically the ruby) because im new to electronics(i can solder though).

    im planning on doing a guitar properly soon but im sick of having seeing this guitar sitting around, and not working, so i decided to hav fun w/ a jigsaw and some chisels. that design you guys want me to do would go right the cavity in the lower left corner, so sorry, i probably wont happen.

    thank you i think it doesnt look really that bad. i still need to sand down the edges and clean it up. other than that pickup cavity(i dont know how it came out that bad) i think the body is in good condition. i see it as loved and not destroyed. ill sand the crappy paint/bondo/marker combition i hav on top and show you that the wood is still good. im devoted to making this work.

    heres the guitar in its current condition. this is my rough cut, i need to clean it up still, mayb add bevels. u can tell that it has been abused. i was using it as my "test guitar" for awhile to practice on before working on my better guitars.

    thats a pretty cool design but its too late now. i already cut it. i test fit it and it doesnt look that crowded, for some reason the cavity for the humbuckers is really big. if i wanted i might be able to fit another humbucker but it would b tight(im not going to put another though). i hav 2 rings around the humbuckers, one for my two super distortions and another for my emg style jackson humbucker. so it doesnt look too crowded, atleast to me. i cut the humbucker cavity really roughly(didnt hav the right tools at the time) so i need to use something to cover it up. im thinking a pickguard, but i want to use my pickup rings still???? i was wondering if theres any cheap and thin material that i can use as a pickguard.

    i just cut the new shape out of my body and i think it looks preety good. i rounded out the top of the left cutout. im thinking about the shape of the lower horn. i dont know if i should have a kelly look or leave it w/ just the big spike.

    i appologize. i hav used stripper on my higher quality guitars before that had binding, and it was turned out decent, not perfect, but decent, and the binding wasnt that great to start w/ anyways. i ended up painting over the binding anyways. and i didnt mean that if it was cheap it just woulndt work properly, i thought that it is more likely that something would go wrong. anyways, go w/ what garehan says, he has far more experience than i do and i appoligize again if i gave u the wrong info.

    what kind of guitar is it??? only on cheapo guitars will the stripper mess w/ the binding.

    sandpaper, this guitar is pretty beat up now. that was a picture of it when it was brand new. ill post a pic soon of it now. its gone through my little spurts of "creativity like 5 times now and it doesnt look that good. its also had like 4 paint jobs on it that hav been removed or stripped. i think that the 2 times i stripped it, it was to cold and the stripper never set and i was to lazy to get it off correctly and so i just beat the crap out of it. thats an idea i got, kinda like the abstract rockingbird
