  1. Do you mean BADGBE? Is that even a legitimate technique? Ive tried playing a couple songs in B (B F# B E G# C#) and its sounded about right but i wasnt really getting the hang of it so it sounded rather bad, especially seeing as the strings were flappin all over the place
  2. I have a canon powershot A70, rather pleased with it so far. My dad has a Fuji Finepix as does a friend. Both mine and there's are not too expensive and have good functionality
  3. <slaps forehead> of course.....i'll keep the files tucked away
  4. I had a crack at it the other day on some 6mm mdf, just to see what i could do. I used a coping saw and then some small files for either end where the ears would sit. It was just a trial and i hadnt really thought about it that much....think i try again with my router and some straight edge guides. It should be pretty easy to rout out the basic rectangle, then the ears with a smaller straight bit and then a file or something to round all the edges (i like the look of a humbucker body rout with rounded corners rather than straight, looks less.....robotic if you know what i mean )
  5. £21.50 for a humbucker template from wdmusicproducts.co.uk ($30 from .com) -way too pricey approx $5 from stewmac -great price but its either spend $20 on shipping or pay $7 on shipping and wait up to 4 weeks Anyone got another suggestion? I SUCK at making my own, so i either need a template or a idiot proof way of making one
  6. It can cross over the other way too, I saw Incubus in May and the bass player was noodling like a bastard at one point. Slap bass style does sound pretty darn cool to me
  7. jesus man,i see nipples every time i take off my shirt...it's what's surrounding them (on a woman)that is the good part True, but a boob without a nipple would look awfully.....odd
  8. nipples are gooooood. The other pic on his web host isnt bad either Curtis - not sure i should share the privilege......right click on the avatar and copy the URL into a new window. Its all good fidge...the girl in your avatar is much better looking...and in it's own window it is a great picture That's my girl (well, not really but i would sell smitty to a huge black dude if it meant i could have her)
  9. I didnt like the sound of some of it...having trouble remembering how it goes now. The part where he slides up the neck and does that little slap-bass sounding riff, i think sounds cool. I definately admire the ability
  10. nipples are gooooood. The other pic on his web host isnt bad either Curtis - not sure i should share the privilege......right click on the avatar and copy the URL into a new window. Its all good
  11. I'm alittle confused, can you help me read between the lines?
  12. For practice, i made a pine blank using several pieces of 3"x2" (once planed, more like 2.75"x1.75"). Tried roughing the body shape with a jigsaw, i gave up after a minute.....the jigsaw didnt sound happy and it was reeeeally slow. I then used a router on the topside until i reached the max depth (only using a 3/4" bit), fixed the template to the underside (like Dylan) and did the same, its only pine so i didnt mind drilling holes all the way through. I had about 1/4" of wood that the router bit couldnt reach, so i used the jigsaw and cut 1/4" from the body line. While the jigsaw cut fine, i will certainly agree with Drak's 'blade wandering' comment. I cleaned the 'lip' up with a rasp and sanding. In hindsight.....what a god-awful method!! Talk about unnecessary, innaccurate, hard work. Only reason i posted all that is to illustrate how pointless 'making do' is. I will be buying a much more competant router bit and do all the routing in one go, from the topside. I cant afford a bandsaw, so its either find someone who does or just use the router with shallow passes. There are plenty of more experienced guys here that have already discouraged the use of 'make-do' methods, but one more couldnt hurt. Im just glad i wasnt stupid enough to try all that out on the good wood first go!
  13. In addition, when i stripped the body, i noticed that my guitar was mucho mucho el-cheapo. It was probably a composite of 4 or 5 pieces of random wood, but not any easier to cut with a chisel, it just squashed and tore and did bad things (hmmm, maybe the chisel wasn't quite sharp enough as well). Moral of the story, my guitar is a POS
  14. Last year, i modified my no-name strat copy from S/S/S to H/S/S. I used a chisel and mallet <shudder> never again! I was shaving down one of the sides and hit the malet too hard, the chisel slipped and hit the cavity floor and went straight through into the tremolo cavity, tearing out a huge chuck with it (the thickness between the two cavities was pretty thin). Luckily, some wood glue and awkward clamping fixed the problem. Lesson learnt..I bought a router for my next project! The chisel method can also be a lot less tidy (i think), then again, maybe i'm just not that skilled with a mallet and chisel. My rout was being covered by a pickguard so i didn't really care at the time, i would've preferred a router in hindsight though.
  15. Welcome! Definately the way to go my friend! There's some real talent here, you'll do good to watch (and read) and learn
  16. Ive never had any problem See here
  17. Did you mean this page? Think the frames caught you out Interesting that, i wonder whether the 'walls' from all the individual chambers make a difference than a body with fewer, larger chambers.
  18. Last year i was in a lecture and the guy puts up a slide titled 'Hazards of Dihydrogen Monoxide'. We had to vote by secret ballot whether it should be banned. I thought it was pretty pointless/obvious given that chemistry was our chosen subject....until 5 out of 15 voted yes - doesnt say much for my class
  19. Have a look here. Is it just me or does that look alittle RG/ibanez-ish? Maybe that's the guy's talking about in the description. I think it looks quite nice and the guy certainly sounds excited about them. But can it really be that good for 170 squids?
  20. I seriously reccommend the Melvin Hiscock 'Build Your Own Electric Guitar' book. I couldnt get it on amazon.co.uk so i went to amazon.com I do have a certain amount of apprehension when it comes to ordering from overseas cos i'm worried i'll get screwed on the import duty and VAT charges. That said, the book and shipping didnt come to more than £20 so i managed to avoid the extra charges. I have this horrible nightmare that i'll order a bunch of stuff thats cheaper overseas or isnt available here, only to find that ive paid the same again in duty and VAT (and further to that, fast delivery can be expensive - the shortest delivery time for a $13 fingerboard from Lmii.com was using FedEx and cost $34. Granted you can have it shipped by US parcel post but the delivery time can be 2-4weeks ). Dont be afraid to order from abroad, just make sure you know exactly what its gonna cost you (or as close an estimate as possible). My £0.02
  21. Have you got one of those? Seeing as thats not a specific tool for fretting, i assume you would still have to buy/make a caul with the correct radius and attach it to the shaft?
  22. musiciansfriend.com has a comparison page for digitech and zoom, cant remember which one you have to search for but searching either digitech or zoom on tne site should allow you to get to it EDIT: Try this
  23. Sorry to hear that dude, i actually didnt know you were homeless but my sympathy never-the-less. EDIT: That's not pity by the way ^^, just hope things work out for ya!
