  1. ummmmmmmmmm if a duplicator is anyhting liek what i mentioned, than i suppose so... -John what is a duplicator?
  2. I don't know if you have ever seen these, but they make these extension things for lathes where it makes an exact copy of an all ready turned thing. So my idea is a little device that adds on to a router base of your dremel. it's 5 cm's long. You place the inlay piece 5 cms away from where you want it and glue it down. Then you turn on your dremel and you run the fence extension thing along the edges of teh inlay piece, causing the dremel to make an exact sized route where you want it! then you just rout out the middle by hand. this would result in a route that perfectly fits a custom cut piece of MOP or abalone or etc. And no filler woul dbe needed, it would be a perfect route! Do you understand what i'm saying, or does it just seem crazy? -john
  3. thats about 38 dollars USD FWIW. When i clicked the link it was still in AUD. So i used a curreny coverter for us yankees. -John
  4. WOW!!!! Nice! I love RG's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, who's that girl? The thumbnail avatar pic, cause she's pretty, too... -John
  5. This body was. Original post That should answer your jigsaw question... Just be careful and give yourself a little itty bit of working room. I love my jigsaw sooooo much.... -John
  6. 20 cm, isn't that like almost a foot? I think a whole foot might be better. And it could have a built in speaker, and be fretless to make it actually playable! awesome! -john
  7. Yeah. you shoulda made a tutorial on it as you built it. That woulda been awesome.... But you still can! You don't have to show us how to make a box, just make a wiring diagram! Questions: Did you have to run open cords into the v-amp? I mean, with no connector? Or were you able to use the regular 1/4 jack and maybesome hot glue or a couple welding tacks to keep it in permanently? After seeing your work i really think it would be awesome to build one. (I realy need a replacement for my fender Frontman 15B [a 15 watt, 8 inch speaker, bassman copy.] It also has no volume control...) And that looks cheap. (not your work, it looks awesome) i mean, it looks cheap to build. And you said it sounds f-ing awesome, so now i want one.... So also.... could you post where you bought everything, how much everything cost, and tips for someone wanting to build it? -John You should use counter sunk screws on the back, IMO, cause when you're walking with the amp at your side, you don't want those hitting your leg.... Also, what is that white tubing? It looks like it has a solid core, is it a white version of that stuff you use to put in screens? It also looks like That stuff you can buy from stew mac that you slice to make side dots on a neck...
  8. I think the RG320 (ibanez) is in that price range. Ibanez is the way to go. Get the most expensive Ibanez you can get. You WILL get what you pay for, and more. not true with fender or gibson. Also, Schecter is really nice. try to pick up one of the floor models they use at guitar center. You can always get a cheaper instrument just cause of one small scratch on the back or something...
  9. I think from the inside of shells. You ever look on the inside of a sea shell? They're shiny. So I think they scrape of the outer white part, and plane it in some way... And that's why it's called a "shell inlay".... i remember reading it in a stew mac or something... I'm not 100% sure of all that, maybe LGM or someone else will know fo' sho'. -John
  10. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I LOVE TEISCO........................ -john
  11. You can. It's called Poplar. (for the body anyways). It's dirt cheap, and is similar to Alder (what they use extesively on fender strats). And besides, a 1X4 is good enough for a neck (in some conditions). And some home depots DO sell hard rock maple, the standard for building guitar necks. Oh, and btw, at home depot they call Poplar "whitewood". it's just a matter of looking. Poplar is dirt cheap. If my memory serves me correct, for like 15 bucks i coulda gotten enough wood for two bodies? maybe more? Hard rock maple is a bit more expensive per square foot, but it's not too much. And btw poplar is not good for necks, not stiff enough, i think. Not 100% sure on that last one... -John
  12. i think brian better order a few cause I'm gonna do A HT-10 kit as wel over summer. (or a tele style) But that Guitar is niiiiiiiiice... (again)

  14. THATS what i wanted to hear. But, still what does "Punchy" mean?
  15. Stewmac sells that opaque color you mix with sparying clearcoat, but i don't have a spray gun yet (December 25th, baby...) And some of you have probably heard of my plans to make a cheap 100-150 dollar guitar in a few months, and i need a cheap finishing method... So could i mix that opaque stuff with Minwax Brush on Polyurethane? I know, I know... "Just use reranch", right? Well, actually, now that I think of it.... Well, would it work, or not?
  16. Well, you can still use it to inlay, and to clean up old metal parts... I use the drum sander attachment to shape necks... The story makes me ...
  17. "Hate" is a bit strong of a word thre, buddy. Did you use a router attachment thing? I would have.... Well you know, heres the best i can say: Sometimes life is good to ya, sometimes life is a b****, ya just gotta take what you get. Sorry man. -John
  18. THANKS ALOT! This stuff is so cheap at Home Depot, I could make like 3 bods for 15 bucks or something like that! But what does "Punchy" mean, per sey? Like a bumping blues sound? (not smooth, but jumping at ya) cause that would be perfect.... THANKS AGAIN! -John
  19. Do you have any flamed neck blanks? if so, what do you want for a piece of flamed 3 foot 1 by 4? How about a 6 footer?
