  1. surely someone wpuld of though of it an posted a diagram u'd think ehh, thanks for the help im gonna try it next week edit: an im gona make the volume a kill switch using a p/p/pot on there
  2. thats geat coz i dont want to lose ma strat look with loads of switches is there a circuit diagram for this, i could wing it but if there is a diagram it would be handy ihave searched and not been able to come up with one
  3. thats exactly what i needed to help me understand, so would i be possible to repac all ma pots with push pulls so that i could control the phase of every coil independantly
  4. but what exactly does it consist of i dont know what phase revrsal is eithe its just i see a lot of people mentionin making a tone pt into a phase etc i would like to knock my guitar (strat) into one vol one tone but what to do with the other tone pot i was thinkin of doing this phase thing to it if it is beneficail
  5. sorry i know this probably seems daft but what is this phasein pups i hear about, and how do u do it and what benifits does it yeild??? sorry but im new to guitar moddin
  6. if theres messy wireing there could be a short, im no expert but it is possible
  7. to shift this over slighty from vavles what fwould you do to increase the volume out of a solidstate line 6 spider amp with 100w - 2-12' 8ohm tubetone speakers with LM3886TF amp chip finals????
  8. Well guy thanks for all the help it is now fixed an back in action, put it all together an though bugger i should of tested it first but it was fine first time not bad seein as i soldered it with 100w clark solder gun
  9. Where is the bad advise picture? What you may gain in loosing the rasping sound you will probably loose in tone quality and sustain. never thought of that it was just a off the top of ma head idea
  10. Why on earth would you want to do that????
  11. i play 9 gauges and get a nasty raspin sound when sliding up an down etc and its faint but annoyin especially when recording i think im gonna try rubbin in sum of ma surfboard wax onto the bottom 3 to see if this quitens the rasping sound, i'll let you know when i find ma surf soap first
  12. ive been lookin at ma guitar an im thinkin should i aint the pick-up covers with the cross onto them to stop them brealing up the croos or is that too much??
  13. so i doesnt have guard so all the acceses is on back of the guitar LP style right?? if so it should be pretty straight foward to do what u wnt just do it as if it was an LP This confuses me sumwhat, sorry if im wrong
  14. no dont tke this as gospel but i think it may be that u have the hot and ground wires reversed sum where, check the continuity of the circuit from hot to hot and ground to ground if there is a switch over cross it back and ground it that SHould help some, and on a guitar its when its NOT grounded that when u touch it the buz stops, so it could be a case of a cros over and grounding combine like i said there is probably sum1 with more knowledge than me but i do know basics etc but am no Expert there are some electrical engineers on here that could help but im a mechanical one with basic electrical knowledge, anyway i hope the above helps if not try and post a circuit diagram so that i can narrow it down, its probably sumthing really simple thats been over looked but its hard to tell on the net lol!!!
  15. well it has a cooling radiator fins etc that its mounted to so im thinkin of makein up a little 12v transformer and running sum pc caseing fans attached to the fins this should work. anyway i ordered the 3886 today and have to pick it up from the electrical wholesalers tomor so the gig is saved phew!!! thanks to all for their help especially Crafty, thins forum has givin me the confidence to actually open up things and have a go instead of payin for repair Thanks Guys Edit: Can any1 recomend a higher-wattage liner amp that i can put in to replace th 3886tf
  16. Thanks Crafty u have been a gr8 source of help with my amp troubles an have made a no0b totally welcome thanks

  17. I feel like a genius lol!!! the weird thing is the iner legs have completely snapped off, anyway gettin ma replacement tommorw Hopefully if they have it in stock if not as i say an ebay job so that'll be another day outta action which i really cant afford coz i have a big gig on tuesday night, if i order the ebay part it will arive on tues morning hopefully if not im screwed an am on the scrounge among mates for stomp boxes and a big amp, i may get a few if they are notorious for it that way there to hand, now heres the biggie is there a chip amp that would be like an upgrade that i coulde use instead to sort of soup up the beast, "as a 20yr male its all about horsepower, and more watts"
  18. Ca Anyone Translate "Chav/Charva/Ned" i can never make the buggers out
  19. that looks sweet how the hell did u do that with the plate?? or is there even a plate on there???
  20. make sure it is properly grounded ive noticed tat nearly all buzzing related to instruments etc is the grounding point, someone else will probably be better able to explain how to do it but search the forum and you'll probaby find ur answer
  21. its a bit more than 20mile im actually 20mile outside newcastle in ashington so its about an hour away, so howdy neigbour kinda!!! lol!!!
  22. got the little bugger it think it is this http://www.futurlec.com/Linear/LM3886T.shtml it was badly soldered onto the board and the inner legs were broke and the pins werent touchin, this would explain the crckeling before complete silenvce from the line, so down to maplin tommorow to try an get one either tha its an order of ebay, so if anyone has the crackele problem check this and if one channel is dead then replace this bit it costa around £2:50 on ebaythanks for al the input guys i will repost later on here to let you all know how it went after then new part was installed
  23. its the right channel its a stereo amp and one speaker out isnt workin all the amp mods work fine etc, i mabye should have explained it better. The entire amp works just fine except for the right speaker which has packed up its no the speaker its-self but the out put , thats a bit more accurate, sorry guys
  24. i do believe in most cases that shielding will work for most people im just saying not for me!!!!
