  1. Yea, don't tear it apart! I can't wait to see this finished.
  2. This is about as much progress as I've made (I don't have any ash and mahogany, walnut, poplar, more spanish cedar, maple, rosewood, or zebrawood are not what I had in mind.) I should be making a run to the lumber yard this weekend to pick up some nice ash. tomorrow I'll work on designing my neck. and possibly cleaning up some of this nice curly maple I have and getting a fingerboard slotted and inlayed (probably not inlayed, I'm going to go with block inlays I think but I also think that it would be a little too much pearl for this.)
  3. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna use some Spanish cedar for the kerfed lining in my acoustic. It smells and looks great. Also, I'm thinking of doing sides and backs of curly Spanish cedar which should smell extremely woody. This stuff is great
  4. Nice. I think I'll give winding a try then. I just got finish some things first.
  5. I have a lathe which I'd imagine would be perfect for this. The only thing is I'm not sure how to count revolutions. I guess that I could just set it to 1000 rpms (1000 is just a number I'm not sure how fast I'll set it.) and wind for x minutes until I've reached the number of winds I want but that wont be too accurate because it wont initially spin at 1000 rpms.
  6. MIMF library. its under templates. I have no specs on the pickups. I was actually just tossing the idea around in my head I'm not set on winding my own I'd have to do more research until I give some specs.
  7. Okay, so I have so extremely nice curly Spanish cedar, and a bunch of rosewood, birdseye maple, mahogany etc. What I am planning on doing for my next electric guitar project is making a curly spanish cedar topped les paul with a birdseye maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. I will be making two of these probably (maybe three partly because I want a les paul style guitar, and partly because the curly Spanish cedar is insane.) Nothing is final though, I may decide to only build one I don't know. Currently, though some rough specs are; Spanish cedar top poplar or ash body. Birdseye maple or Curly maple maple neck. Rosewood fingerboard. Spanish Cedar peghead overlay. Custom inlays. HH pickups. 2 volume 2 tone 1 3way. handwound pickups. natural finish. satin chrome hardware. b/w/b binding. carved top. I hope these work out, and I cant wait to start posting some pics up tomorrow or this weekend. -Carousel http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/st...17/DSC00379.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/st...17/DSC00380.jpg

  9. WOW i just got some curly Spanish Cedar today and it is amazing. Some of the best curl ive ever seen. Ill post some pics up. its big enough for acoustic back and sides but I'm gonna use it for electrics first. I have two 12x8.5 4/4 boards.
  10. I have so much wood I could use for tops or sides but none for tops . Im looking on ebay for a billet thats about 7 and 3/4+x2+x20+
  11. Today feels odd. I am FINALLY free of all projects and can now work on the acoustic!!!!
  12. I saw that but I'm not sure how to interpret that. I'm not sure which one of those wires is red white or bare.
  13. hey, I'm terrible at electronics. I have 2 golden age humbuckers that I need to wire up using one volume and one tone. They have a red a white and a bare wire, does anyone have a colored wiring diagram for this type of thing that they could give me (as soon as possible i need it by tonight sometime).
  14. yeah, its an amazing saw, powerful, smooth and durable.
  15. i bent it with my bending jig (2 guess fox style) the tablesaw is a sawstop www.sawstop.com i believe
  16. heh, once I get this going I hope I can fix that . One thing I'm not sure of though, is how you shape the bracing, and when you know youve taken enough off. I'm not sure what type of sound it's supposed to make when you tap it.
  17. Theres a progress pic, and yes, you did motivate me lol.
  18. okay, Im going to be restarting this build within the next week. I'm once again castless and can get back to working in the shop effectively. I'm going to order some spruce today or tomorrow and get some tools from stewmac.
  19. wetsanded and buffed. FINALLY I'm almost done this one.
  20. hey man! nice work on this, I can't wait to get restarted on mine. Right when I setup this electric and buff it I'm restarting.
  21. Here are the painted pics. Their is one run on the back, I'll sand that out and spray more coats tomorrow. The guitar isnt really as yellow as it looks in this picture. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/st...17/DSCN0497.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/st...17/DSCN0496.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/st...17/DSCN0495.jpg
  22. I'm gonna be spraying the color and clear today, I'll post some pics when I get to spraying the clear. I'm glad you guys like it. Finishing this guitar is going to be such a good feeling because its the first guitar I've made not for me, It's turning out good, and after it's finished I get to finish my acoustic (plus the fact that the deadline is fast approaching lol).
