  1. you mean, plywood has no what so ever strength in holding the screws? i've seen some that has some screws in it and it has to be pulled away with such strength. i really don't understand this...
  2. just a short question since i don't get any reply after my last post before the recnt one. can i make the body out of plywood? stack them together to have, say, 2" or more, bookmatched them to prevent warping ( if there's any), then have it sanded down to the right thickness and then route all the necessary place to put the hardware and have a natural finish (solid colour perhaps?)
  3. hai all, i take a look at it again, i save it to my disc and enhanced the image to be a bit bigger than what they show. after that, i was thinking to myself, hell... it's very hard to make this kind of guitar and with a person who's just started to learn on how to build one, it's a bit unfair for me to give such review. i take back my word and say, it's a really awesome appealing guitar to be played and if i got one of those for my birthday, boy am i the happiest dude in my place!
  4. hai, i got a confusing question (for me) to ask you guys. i'm printing the blueprint for ibanez radius and all i got is a single page of the plan with condensed print. why? i tried the corel draw plan using corel draw, but it seems to failed me. i'm using autocad 2000, still i got aone page plan. can you sort this thing out?
  5. i've just gone through the listing in ebay link for this better bytes auction and mann... he's totally ripping off jon fisher's work dude... i mean, he build the les paul for himself to play in his band and the strat, is for his own son who wants it just like eric clapton. that betterbytes better be shutdown immediately. he stole from other people. we may share and distribute the info's among ourselves but not to the extent of claiming it as his and then sells it to other people. additional usd 1 for outside shipping for something that you stole from other people works? that's rip off dude... and i'm mad!
  6. i take a look at the guita one more time and i said... its pretty neat you know... but it must have the right music genre to suit that kind of thing. just imagine that kind of guitar in eric clapton's hand.... boy i'll be 6 feet down under when i see him playing with it.... you know what i mean?
  7. yeah... one look at it and i said wooo... can the headstock handle the pressure?
  8. ok. i think i ought to give a little bit more detail on my plans. i have a few posters in a4 size papers that i want to make it as the material finish for my guitar. is it really possible for me to put the posters accordingly to the way i see fit, glue it to the body, and use clear lacquer to finish it off?
  9. hai, i'm just wondering. i've read the tutorial section of projectguitar.com on finishing, and one of the article show on how to make a mterial finish if not painting or airbrush artwork on the guitar. in the tutorial, he show only 1 type of material that he used for the guitar. you know, the jungle jem if i'm not mistaken.\ the question is, i've a few posters that i want to be on da guitar as a mix and a layer on each other and making it as a mix poster or artwork on a single body. can this be done?
  10. welcome to the forum dirty fingers... i myself is a newbie here....
  11. hai westhemann, thanks for the explaination man. can anyone share with me their neck plan? just for reference you know...
  12. is that mean that i can build that 26 1/4" scale length with 24 fret neck without much problem?
  13. hai, this is a question for hyunsu. can u post to me the process that you did to shape your neck? look interesting you know... pizza_sicilian@hotmail.com
  14. thank you everyone for replying to this post. i have a question again but the same. i am a bit unsure of which truss rod to buy from stew mac as they have different kind of truss rod. i like the hot rod ones because they didn't require a groove in the straight channel. but which one should i buy? i'm planning on having a 26 1/4" scale length and 24 fret fretboard. 12-1/4" 14-1/4" 18" 24" can anyone help me with some details and explaination on this? some drawing perhaps?
  15. hai, i just want to ask something. i saw the ads for yamaha drop6 and its 26 1/4" scale length. i think its cool to have something that is not in the normal scene and i just wanna know, how long is this 26 1/4" in mm? BTW, i agree with you soapbarstrat. the early mettalica sounds is really a hell on earth whereas the new one... i don't really understand it.
  16. hai everyone... thank you vendelcrow for the info on the wood types in malaysia. i felt a bit embarassed when someone outside my country knows better than i am. hei, i've just came across www.gimguitars.com from malaysia. it's a good site you know... ok, i have a question. i will start to build my guitar any time soon and i'm planning on making the neck first. i've got some wood and planned to make it as 3pieces neck with the same wood. i just cut it into three and glued it back together to have nice and strong neck. what do you think of it? i've seen many post about neck angle. i don't quite understand about that. my plan was to have a floyd rose tremolo bridge but it is so pricey here in malaysia so i'm just going to have a standard bridge like strat or gibson type of bridge. if i used a gibson type bridge, i have to make the neck angle don't i? how? is it necessary? can i go on without a neck angle? can anyone comment on flatsurfaced fingerboard and radiused one?
  17. hai davek... how much do you want for alder body with double humbucker and a floyd rose tremolo?
  18. hai again... thank you vendelcrow for your suggestion. actually, since the last time i post the message here, i've found some of the prospectous wood that might be used in my krizalid custom project. it got some nice grain in it and the weight is just nice. i'm really sorry for not having some pictures of the wood, it just that i've only realized it few days back in a shop that i used to go a lot just to have a chat with the owner. he's a good friend of mine and he had said something of wanting to clean the junk from his shop. better move fast then! westhemann, 18" is what you suggested for me to use? can you explained to me a little bit about that or do you have any diagram for it? can anyone share with me their guitar plans with me? especially for those who had sound chamber in it? i'm thinking of making it as semi solid as the wood i've talked about, not really big enough to make all solid.
  19. hai everyone, sorry for the very late reply as i'm quite busy with a lot of assignments and exams that had to be dealt with. ok, here is my question. i'm just looking at stewmac site for the truss rod as i think it's easier for me to buy it than to make it for the first time. i saw that they have a types of hot rods. 12-1/4" 14-1/4" 18" 24" now, i'm confused. if i want to make a guitar that have 24 fret and a customised 26 1/4" scale length, which one do i have to buy?
  20. hai again, thanks daveq, Drak, krazyderek, Ace & Brian for replying to my post. i really appreciate it a lot.
  21. hai drak, thanks for replying. well, i have drawn some plans on cardboards as suggested by one of the people in the forum ( sorry bro, i couldn't recall your name). so, pretty much, i've drawn the rough plans. if possible, i want it to be 3 piece neck for stability and to avoid wood warping. but, i don't really know the wood selection here in malaysia. i've tried to do some research on this but there are some people that i have asked were actually sneered at my intention of building one. just a standard fender scale, 25 1/2 inch would do with double action truss rod. i have a friend who can provide me the router. is that a good thing? some basic tools for very basic woodworking. didn't have anyone that i know for a bandsaw though... i prefer a natural finish to bring out the wood grain but if i did any mistake to the wood, well, black is my second choice of finish. my rough budget? hmm... it is kind of hard to convert it to dollars but i'll use malaysian currency and then try to figure out the conversion. my budget +/- rm1500 = usd 4000? (i'm not sure at this conversion as it will look bigger in usd) thanks for anyone who can help me.
  22. no picture what so ever? how much do you want?
  23. hai everyone, i'm just a newbie here in the forum but i've been to the project guitar site for quite some time. i live in malaysia and i want to build my very own guitar. i understand the concept of 'building your own would not be cheaper than the end user models' but i want it to be something personal which i can treasure it. ok, i know that the first guitar that anyone should build is a simple design to make it simple and easier to get satisfactory result. so, i want to build something just like that. a few specification that i'm looking for are: body- looks like an ibanez RG ( don't know nothing about the wood selection here in malaysia ) neck- all access neck joint fret-22 ( i want a 24, but since this is my first attempt, i'll go for the standard one) double humbucker pickup 1 vol, 1 tone, 5 way switch selector or mini toggle switches i need help to build this guitar and if anyone can guide me well, i would appreciate it very much. ps: can anyone share a copy of melvyn hiscock book? i want to buy it but i don't have a credit card or anything to buy it online. please?
