  1. I guess you are the only Pro builder that is allowed to enter? It`s kind of hypocritical to be complaining about my entry when you are a pro builder, and a 4 time GOTM winner, don`t you think? I have deleted my GOTM entry since you seem to be so upset by it. Mike It was actually another entry i was referring to, the pink guitar from a single post count member... but do as you like. While you have the spotlight (and i just checked your profile), lets look at the facts... 3500ish posts over five years from me, versus 40 posts from you in 12 months (and ive hardly posted in the last 18 months). The members know who helps out, and who doesnt. You are clearly using this forum for promotion more than i am. You cant deny that, and to be honest I couldnt care less. But, i didnt refer to you, you chose to withdraw your entry. No one asked you to. Especially me. PS, might pay to use the quote tags correctly mate. Again, I am clearly not using this site for promotional puposes. I was asked by members on this site to enter the guitar this month, and the two I entered last month. You referenced a "pro builder, first post".....well I was the first post in the GOTM, so you could see where I would take that you were referring to me. Quite frankly, I take offense to your comment "you are clearly using this this forum for promotion more than I am" I do deny that! How do you know what my intentions are? I didn`t join this forum to showcase my work, I was asked to join by the members. I could care less about entering my instruments in the GOTM forum, hense why I withdrew my entry. If I was using the forum for promotion, wouldn`t I have entered before last month if I have been a member for 12 months? Just because someone has a lower post count than you, doesn`t mean they don`t help out. Honestly, you are coming off like you are above everyone else because you have a high post count. I respect your talents. I think you do great work. However, you are falsely accusing me of something, and I find it unprofessional. This is all I have to say on the subject. Mike

  3. Chris`s second 8 is in process right now. Flamed Walnut top, with Birdseye Maple F/B.

African mahogany/Maple neck Bokote F/B Custom wound Nordstrand Pups Planet Waves tuners Fiber optic side markers with 4 position rotary switch to change the colors of the F/O`s (off/red/blue/green)
  5. Here is another 8 string I built for Chris letchford of Scale the Summit. 25.5" scale Tuned low B to high G Curly maple Droptop over African Mahogany body. African Mahogany/maple neck Bokote Fretboard Custom wound Nordstrand pups Hipshot bridge Planet waves tuners Fiber optic side dots with 4 position rotary switch for multi colored fiber optics (off/red/ blue/green) The burst was shot directly on the wood using aniline dye with an airbrush.
  6. Limba needs to be grain filled. I used Mohagany grain filler for this one to add some richness to the color of the Limba. There is an .080 for the F#
  7. I just finished this one this week. I call it "Orion" 30" scale Black Limba body Curly Maple/Wenge/Purple Heart set neck Macassar Ebony F/B Lundgren M-8 pickup Matching wood pup cover, and control plate Strung with .010-.080
  8. While organizing my wood racks making room for new lumber, I found these top sets that I forgot I had. My spalted days are over, so maybe one of you guys can put them to good use. They measure 22.5"x7"x 1/2" $120 takes them all.
  9. No, there were some things I wasn`t happy with surrounding that one. There are two 7 string basses in process in that design that will be finished next month though.
  10. The concept has been done before, since the early `80`s actually. The 3rd through 12th markers are 32 auto shells, 15th through 21st are 25 caliber, 24th are 1/8" brass dowel rod, and the 27th is 3/32" brass dowel rod. Side markers are 3/32" brass as well. Mike
  11. Hey Kenny, how`s things? You mean the 8 string? It has the back half of that design, morphed with a front have of an RG with elongated horns.
  12. The body is White Ash, so it`s quite strong. No issues at all.
  13. The guitar was originally a UVGR that was Derek Taylor`s. He used it on a few instructional videos. He stripped the finish, then took a blowtorch and hammer to it, as well as sharpied out the inlays. It then changed hands a few times. It wound up in the hands of one of the Mods over on Sevenstring .org where he handed it off to me for the restoration. It was ALOT of work restoring it back to it`s glory days!
  14. very nice Use brass, and inlay it below the surface of the F/B, and cover it with casting resin (found at any art supply store). Once it`s dry, is can be sanded flush. Here is the same technique using bullets for face dots.
  15. I finished these late last year. And a couple of more in process:
  16. The neck is Maple, Wenge, & Purple Heart. The F/B is not going to be dyed. The owner is 6`1", so he should be able to handle it. Note the figure (or should I say the finger) on the headstock cap! LOL
  17. Hey Eric, Thanks for the kind words. I haven`t been around here for a while, so I figured I`d pop in. Yeah, that green is....lovely...huh? LOL
  18. Just finished these. The 7 string droptop has 25.5" scale, Anegre top, and an Ash body. The 8 string droptop has 28" scale, Bubinga top, Ash wings, and Nordstrand pups. This one I recently restored back to it`s former glory. Here is the condition it was in when it arrived. And after the restoration.
  19. If you are interested, I can send you a tracing of the body? I`ve built a few of these guitars,LOL.
