  1. There 2 pots in 1, basicaly ont he front of you guitar rartehr then there being 2 knobs (1 vol, 1 tone) you have 1 knob which then has another smaller know ontop each working 2 different pots. Normaly 1 3/4" total shaft length and 9MM & 6MM shaft width. Ive been puting these in alot of my project lately they allow for alot more options without having loads of pots/knobs on the guitar.
  2. Got to http://www.truetonetechnologies.com/humbuckers.html check round for info there or send them an email asking, since there the makers of the pickup in question they should be happy to help.
  3. Hi all, could anybody who knows a good shop that is in the UK or ships to the uk at decent prices here please. So far these are the shops i know http://www.axesrus.com/axecart.htm http://www.highlystrung.net/acatalog/index.html http://www.wdmusic.com/ http://www.stewmac.com From those http://www.axesrus.com/axecart.htm has the best selection and prices imo, but theres alot of parts that arent on there which are on alot of american websites but they dont offer shipping to the UK.
  4. Hey, i recently installed an Artec QDD 2 distortion driver into my main guitar, which finishes that project of next im going to be building a heavily custom strat and was planning on placing another QDD 2 anlong with the BCU or VTC (also made by artec) But ive just stumbled across this http://store.guitarfetish.com/anammotuampa.html The QDD 2 has a trim pot on the back and then fromt he front pot you have 5 stages - 1 bypass, 2 to 5 higher levels of gain. From what i can tell the 1 on guitarfetish only has a trim pot and 2 levels on the front pot which are, 1 bypass, 2 gain. So if thats right then the QDD is better but im not certain if im right so Has anyone here got 1 of these to give me some info on how good the sound is?
  5. As a last resort you could use wax on the strings. Use a candle and rub it up and down the full length of your strings (Only the 6th, 5th, & 4th/ E,A & D) a few times then blow the lose crap of and play. This helps yoru strings last longer aswell.
  6. What brand and gauge strings have you got on the guitar?
  7. Thanks both for your help , ive tested and it works fine both ways. I would recomend any1 who does this tho to go with the common lug as the hot 1 as it is easier for soldering and a tody job.
  8. Hey pics are sorted, thanks for the heads up
  9. Hey, ive been building guitars now for roughly 4 years. This was my very first guitar that i made and it is still currently a work in progress since im constantly tweaking, altering it and using it to test new ideas on. Its main use is as a workhorse basicaly durring band rehearsals it gets a heavy use and lots of moving around or if ive been working and havent cleaned up and wanna quick play then i use this one. In the begining http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/wickerwolf/Red1.jpg Body - Maple Neck - birds eye Maple Controls - 1 ol, 1 tone, 3 way switch. (N, b, n& Custom scratchplate. And the pick ups were just cheapos from ebay after id spent all my money on buying the woods for the body and neck. 2nd stage. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/wic...f/Guitar055.jpg http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/wic...lf/DSCN4278.jpg Changed the pickups, made a new scratchplate and added in a phase switch. As you can see from the close up shot making the scartchplate didnt go to well and left big gaps down the sides of the pickups. Pick ups: Neck - seymour duncan cool rails Bridge - Seymour duncan hotrails Currently Redesigned the scratchplate and that brings us up to date with it well for now at least
  10. Check out http://www.guitarheads.net/main%20pages/pr...electronics.htm click on the info for eaxch and theres some sound samples which may help you. I installed a QDD 2 onto my main axe a few days ago so far its working great but im thinking of what i can do to mod it afor a bit more variety in the gain. Which is something to bearin mind if you use them in a pedal is the limits/tonal possibilities you can get from each 1 compared to buying a cheap (say danelectro)pedal and taking the insides out to use for a custom built pedal.
  11. First of hi everyone I purshased these the a few days ago and the arrived this morning. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/wickerwolf/9e_1.jpg And was aiming to follow this guide http://alexplorer.net/guitar/mods/varitone.html So heres what ive worked out on the switch so far Now going of that could someone more knowledgable please look over my working out and point out any errors/help out. Thanks. Heres what i think it would be: Main lug - To ground Lug 1 to 5 - A cap on each 1 with 1 leg of the cap soldered to the kug and the other ends soldered together and then to the hot lug on the master volume. Thanks.
