Rio Jakaranda är Rosewood.
Rosenträ är något helt annat

Thank you very much! The lettering and the dots on the headstock is spraypainted using a lasercut (I think) masking film made by a very good guitar builder who is active on the same Swedish guitar forum as I am.
It's like a piece of tape that is laser cut, and it has protective tape on both sides. You just peel off the protective on the sticky side, stick it to the headstock and remove the other protective tape. Very simple and effective.
And also a PG member
Actually its cut with a vinyl cutter/plotter.

Sustainiac controls...
Neck pickup volume is a push/pull for on/off, neck "tone" is push/pull for mode and the pot is for the "gain"

Well, from Schaller website :
The experience of building the majority of the original Floyd Rose Tremolos helpe us develop our own Tremolo System. Hardended knife edges guarantee an extremly long sustain. -
Upgrade!
I put on bobbin toppers and a switchplate, I think it looks better now.
I also recorded a coversong with it

Thanks for the drawing, one of the better ones I've seen!

Looks great! I love the photo album thing too, good way to show the process of the build. How thick was that top before carving, 3/4" ?
Hmmm, I don't know, it was 22 mm Maybe 7/8"

Thank you!
Thats a nice LP, i have always liked the white ones.
Whats with the pickup rings? are they normal ones with binding added or where they made from scratch.
The pickup rings are maple (dyed black) with pearl "dots" and binding w/b
This is the best lp carved top.
You have to make a tutorial on how you
make your lp carved top.
Very nice. It's cool to see the way you fitted your pickup rings to the carve. Kind of answerd a question about my own guitar project. Thanks!!
So... you "found" the rest of the pics
I have the build documented here:
http://www.fagerlund.biz/pics/vitlp/images/1.jpg
Replace the "1.jpg" to 2, 3, 4 and so on
Some carving pics there.

...at which point you told StewMac, and they sent you a new one? Because that's the most likely outcome of emailing/calling customer service.
Yes, and they will send me a new one.

I bought the stewmac nipper after years with the dremel.
After 4 frets this happened:

I would love to build an explorer but don't have any plans for the body. Do you have anything you could email me?
The guitar is fabulous. Definitely one of the nicer guitars I've seen here. Very classy. I like the ebony board with the single inlay.
One thing though - why mount the pickups on rings? I see a lot of projects done this way in this forum. Why not simply screw the pickups directly onto the body?
I can mail my drawing, its a bit smaller than a standard explorer, more like the Explorer Pro.
On a guitar like this with the neckangle and all it would look really ugly to mount the pickups without rings, atleast in my eyes

The inlay is made of clear acrylic with a "mirror" bottom
Prorably melted some Low M.P. Alloy in a mould to get that inlay. Btw, how do you get that finish, did you use matte black? But when lacquer gets applied, doesn't it get shiny again?I used nitro satin clear, its a flat clear kind of

Thanks!
I like how the added blur in the pictures makes it look like a tiny figurine sitting on a shelf, and everything else is blurred because ythe camera is focused on it....I saw that "trick" on a photo forum, I'm still learning
Looks great. I wonder how did you carve the body and what tools did you use...?mullmuzzler l OSSMT
I use spokeshave, scraper, morakniv and sandpaper for carving
Very nice!!! I like the guitar, but the pics make it look like a toy! like if it wasn't real! Or smaller than a guitar would be!Any way! I did like the carve, and the only thing I didn't liked about it was the position of the control cavity or cover! I think it was because of were the control knob and output jack is located, but to me it looks off, nevertheless it is an outstanding guitar!
One question about the color! Is it black, or did you mixed some blue there too? It looks like an black too, but on the carve you can see a bit of blue shimmer on it!
Ohh, I forgot, LP!!! Com'on are you reading my mind again? Last 2 guitar you posted were like mines back to back!
this one
as I said, I'm still learning the blur-trick-thing I think I blurred a bit too much on the back picture so it looks like the cover is closer to the edge than it really is, I'll get a better pic of it. But it is a bit off from a Gibson cavity because of the pot and jack placement.
I used a waterbased (black) stain that became a bit purple in the lighter areas, I liked it so...
and you know, great minds...
The covers are standard black plastic covers with chrome vinyl on them
Thanks!
I "stole" the stand design from Martin or Taylor I think.
