  1. ...."Stylish Classical Guitar"....
  2. I would love to see a video of the "superbass" being tuned up and ripping itself apart. "It is playable, but you would have to be called Hagrid to be able to play it"
  3. watch out...the 14 stringer will have a volume AND tone control....!!!
  4. very true. I only do repair work to friends/recommendations. I have a "normal" job which keeps me very busy. I don't charge a lot. I enjoy it and do it for fun. If people want a fast turn around, go to a local shop and pay for that kind of service....sometimes I can do things the same weekend, other times it could be a couple of weeks....I explain this to me friends/clients...if they don't like it, I won't be offended if they go elsewhere. At the end of the day, I keep my word on what I do and I don't rip anyone off. I could do a lot more if wanted but I'd rather work on my builds (plus i have a wife nagging me to do work around the house) and cherry pick what I do.
  5. I've got a sunburst one and I was thinking of selling it but it's such a buyer's market and there aren't that many ppl who would want one instead of LP. On the Pro side, it's quite a nice guitar and it's not too weighty (compared to my LP)
  6. the old Tele's from 72 ( maybe the Deluxe or the Custom) had a strat neck straight into the "square" pocket. As for reshaping the headstock, I've done it a couple of times it will easily fit
  7. Can you use a veneer for a neck laminate. I'm thinking of using some 0.6mm veneer (Walnut) between two pieces of rock maple. How thin can you go?
  8. In case anyone hasn't seen this, have a look at this travel guitar http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/03/centrefold_guit.html[post=http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/03/centrefold_guit.html]http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/03/centrefold_guit.html
  9. you could try veneering your fingerboard but that would depend on how high your frets are
  10. This is only an idea....I've never tried it so please don't shoot me if it doesn't work. You could try and add some rosewood coloured stain to some clear nail polish and use the little brush to cover them up. *Naturally, test this out before doing on the actualy guitar*
  11. wilkinson tuners is always good quality and at a reasonable cost...they do other parts as well
  12. about 400 yards down the road in Hornchurch but to a house and bigger garden so I can have a decent size workshop outback. The lollar's book sounds good ...Will be in touch soon
  13. now I can open a whole new can of worms with what type of keyboard to get.....so much choice out there I think my head might explode
  14. I've got some guitar effect schematic/designy books packed away (moving house on monday....yipeee!) but if you want I can dig them out when I have moved and settled if you want to borrow them...considering that your LOCAL
  15. thanks GregP...I didn't know that. I going to have to bite the bullet me thinks and get a keyboard
  16. I used to have a ring modulator (please no jokes ) until I loss it at a gig. I really liked.....I wouldn't know how complex it would be to make one though
  17. Thanks to everybody who contributed to this discussion. In the short term I am going to attempt to record the guitar as a normal .wav and then try one of the pitch to midi programs to convert it into a midi file.... should be interesting......
  18. I'm not too bothered how fast it tracks...I can always tiding up the midi...it's just the conversion of the fretted note onto the ivories and then have the skill to play the parts I think I would have a major problem with
  19. thanks Erik....it's a shame as those pitch to midi (guitar synth) setup costs so much....maybe the money would be better invested in having some piano lession
  20. As a guitarist who wants to put keyboard parts in his recordings but I can't play keys for toffee, does anyone know if this "guitar" does a pitch to midi converson or does it "just" converts the signal via usb into a PC/MAC? http://www.behringer.com/IAXE393/index.cfm?lang=ENG at less than £90 UK it seems almost too good to be true. ? ? ? Has anyone got an experience with this product or similar? If it plays like a pig, I could always use the electronics as a donor for my next build!!!
