soapbarstrat Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 If anyone has the StewMac .020" gauged saw, or the "re-fret" saw, I want to know if the teeth have the same width as the rest of the blade (above the teeth). If the teeth are wider (I guess that's the kerf), I want to know what the width of the non-toothed part of the blade is. I hope I explained this ok. Yeah, I could e-mail stewmac, but I'll do that if no one here can help. Quote
Guitarfrenzy Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Soap, I have one, but it's at the shop right now, I'll get it today and take my digital calipers and measure it for you. If I remember correctly though. The teeth are the same width as the rest of the saw. But don't quote me on that until I can get you a measurement. Quote
Guitarfrenzy Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Ok.. I just now had the time to post. I have a .020" saw that Stew Mac sells. I measured the metal saw below the teeth area and it did read exactly .020". Then just to make sure, I measured the teeth also. It read .020" also, which is good.. lol Since it was sold as a .020". So yes the teeth are the same width as the rest of the saw. Hope this helps. Quote
soapbarstrat Posted August 8, 2004 Author Report Posted August 8, 2004 Hey, thanks for that. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I bought some little mini hack-saw blades that have a .025" kerf in the teeth, and the non-toothed area of the blade is .016". I have a pretty good idea of how to make a homemade refret saw. I don't like stewmacs refret saw because of the price, and I want a little handle on the other end of the saw like the blitz saws have. But, I really like the idea of the blade being .020" throughout. The stewmac ones might actually be zona saws. Quote
