How do you paint a neck?

I want to refinish my neck, but I don't want to mess up the logo or serial number. Would I just tape those off, sand, primer, and paint everything else, then clear everything including the logo and serial number?

Thats always a hard one cause getting the paint to blend around it is not easy but thats the way I have tried in the past and it worked.

I didn't quite catch the method, could you describe it more slowly please? I am working on the same job know and I am stuck at the Washburn logo. It's not a stained neck by the way.

Tape off the logo so you don't mess it up. Then, sand the neck, but avoid the tape as much as possible. If you sand the tape, get a new piece. Then spray the primer. The logo should be covered up, but be sure there is no primer getting under the tape. You might want to get a new piece of tape now. Then, spray the color making sure nothing gets under the tape. Now, take the tape off and clear everything making it smooth and flush with the logo.
