madcow
may be a stupid qestion but... when you order unfinished necks how are you supposed to finish them? is it as simple as masking off the frets andfinishing as normal? or is it more complicated? thanks everyone for listening
Maiden69
as simple as that, but it depends on the fretboard, if its maple, mask the frets, if its rosewood, you can mask were the fetboard meets the neck.

Devon Headen
you don't even have to do that...lacquer it all, then take an exacto to the edges of the frets, then it'll chip off the top of the fret easily. Or so I've heard, never actually done it. I think Fender used to leave the lacquer on the frets. After a little playing it chips off. madcow
if that didn't work you could lightly sand the frets, right? but i tihnk that sounds right...
