Riffplayer9678
Im am trying to make my first guitar and i want to make a les paul. I dont know if i should make the body a single piece, or do a two piece body. I am going to give it a carved top too. Also, what kind of wood is good and not expensive. I dont want to spend tons of money. Bryan
Lex Luthier
Also, what kind of wood is good and not expensive. I dont want to spend tons of money. Then do two piece, and Les Pauls are Mahogany, but Alder is a nice, less costly wood.
sscovill
Yeah, Les Paul bodies are mahogany and the carved top is standardly 5/8" thick maple. You can choose between the flamed or quilted types depending on what sort of finish you're going for.
