StratDudeDan
now, most if not all of us are musicians here, and being a musician also involves listen to music rather often. i know that i can't go for more than a matter of minutes without hearing some type of music, whether in my head or cranked through a vintage stereo or a crysal clear computer studio monitor set. anywho, what would be a song or some songs that would be found on the "Background Music of Your Life: The Soundtrack" album? a couple of mine off the top of my head: "Beautiful Letdown," Switchfoot "Life's Not a Race," 311 "Way Away," Yellowcard "Sympathy," The Get Up Kids "Grand Theft Automn," Fall Out Boy "Battlestar Scralatchtica," Incubus "Stealing Happy Hours," 311 "First Straw," 311 and "Sweetness," Jimmy Eat World. they just seem to make sense, Switchfoot throwing in my more "contemplative" side, 311 giving me a sense of groove, rhythm, rhyme, as well as lyrics that actually mean something, JEW for the intensity of raw and power-driven music and emotions, Incubus and their idealistic outlook on the world (granted the song written is just an awesome song that deserves to be turned up loudly...), and then a couple punk/fau-punk/neo-punk groups in order to maintain a steady line through which my life, musically, socially, and thoughtfully speaking has been tied to. skibum5545
That's a really hard question! Maybe: Carnival by Our Lady Peace Again I Go Unnoticed by Dashboard Confessional Life by Our Lady Peace The Anthem by Good Charlotte You Can Get it if you Really Want by Jimmy Cliff The World I Know by Collective Soul Ode to Maybe by Third Eye Blind Why Can't This Be Love by Van Halen Rusty Nail by X Japan (It's all in Japanese, but I really like the song!) Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd The Click by Good Charlotte I think that about covers it; I'll add more later if I need to. By the way, right now I'm listening to some Pink Floyd through a vintage Marantz 1550 Stereo receiver and a pair of vintage JBL 12" monitors with a Boston Acoustic 12" sub. WAY overkill for my room, but it sure sounds nice!

bluespresence
My Dingaling (Chuck Berry) I started singing that in a restaurant the other night! My wife was completely embarrassed and then 3 or 4 other guys joined in. What a riot!!! I hadn't even been drinking - I was just in one of those moods..... Mine: "The Thin Ice" Pink Floyd "You Can't Always Get What You Want" The Stones "Simple Man" Lynyrd Skynyrd and recently redone by ShineDown "Good Riddance - Time of Your Life" Green Day "Bright Side of the Road" Van Morrison There's many others depending on my mood but those popped in my mind at the moment. tirapop
Check out Jim White's "Alabama Chrome". It's been rattling around in my head for a while. His Banjocaster's plinky twang is tapping into the roots of the blues, all the way back to West Africa. Southern Gothic lyrics about madness and religion... moody stuff.
