Filling In Hole Where Electronics Were

Skit

Recommended Posts

Hi B)

I want to fill in the space on my bass where the electronics and pickups where.

I was wondering what is the best material to use?

I've tried various kinds of filler but I need to fill in a hole about 15mm deep and about 200mm long so the filler just remains soft and wont set. :D

Any one of you know what I should use for this job?

Thanks :D

Did you try layering in the filler, maybe a 1/4" at a time? That may help. Also, you could try to use saw dust packed in and then fill in the last 1/4" or so.

Just my ideas. One last one is using a precisely cut wood plug.

I hope you take this OK.

1. layering is good, wood filler for guiitars is not. So that is the 1st problem I see with his doing.

2. a plug. Best idea you have posted so far! There is a tutorial in the main site about this, you should have posted a link to that link , this is for a trem to hardtail, but it will work for what he wants.

3. Saw dust packed... Are you for real!

I have always used automotive bondo, so has a lot of people here, with no draw back. Make sure it's filler and not glazing putty.

And your signature! whatever!
