feylya
I'm trying to find out, if I install a locking nut, are you supposed to remove part of the fretboard. Also, where do you measure the scale length on a guitar with a floyd? Is it from the center of the nut to the saddle?
swirlslave
The scale lenght begin at the edge/end of the nut, fretboard side. you dont have to remove the fretboard but you will surely need to enlarge and slot deeper where the nut is seating on the neck. Drak
Get the video from Stew-Mac 'Tremolo Installation', which is where I learned to install all my Floyd systems, it shows in clear detail what's involved in cutting the slot for a Floyd nut, and brother, as much as I love working on guitars, I would NOT want to ever have to do that operation, it's pretty damn tedious the way they show it. Glad I like the locking tuners and graphite nuts setup, I really dislike locking nuts and never use them.
