ibreakemineedtobuildem Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I'm building an explorer and I was wondering about the edges. Are they supposed to be rounded over like a strat? Also, anyone ever see a carve top explorer? Quote
jimmyb Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 nar well the edges should be pencil curves. i have never seen a carved top explorer. so yeah hope that helps. my explorer is pinned in in Progress section if you wanna have a look i spose. Quote
litchfield Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 a 1/4" roundover would be fine. You can get one of those bits at a decent hardware store Quote
MzI Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 mine is quite squared off id say an 1/8th inch round over MzI Quote
Curtis P Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 it might look neat if your edges meeted at a point, get a 45 chamfer bit (i think thats what its called) and go around, both sides and it will come to a point in the middle, it could look killer if done right Curtis Quote
Devon Headen Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I think you could do about a 45 degree chamfer, but do it with spokeshaves. That way, you could taper the depth and angle so it'd be shorter and steeper near the inside sharp angles. That could look VERY nice Quote
