has any one ever finished over teak?

i am using teek for some binding and was planning on using some form of clear coat wether it be laquer or poly and was wondering if teek leeks? haha i made a funny but seriously does it? i might just have to tung oil this one if it does.

i think teak is very porous.you would have to fill the grain.

My opinion of water based clear remains pretty well the same, takes a very long time to harden, and never looks completely clear, however, I haven't tried Stew Mac's stuff, might be worth a shot who knows, I just don't care for laquers anymore though. just my opinion though.

As for Teek, I would seal the whole body first (not just the teak) and personally, I would feel better spraying oily woods like that with Poly, it seems to work over almost anything.
