fishguts Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I helped my friend install a dimebucker in his guitar and I thought everything was alright. I then noticed that there is a slight buzzing nut when I touch the volume knob or the bridge the buzz goes away. What can be the problem? Quote
thomasteven Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 The reason for this is that that pickup is VERY "hot" and it will kind of naturally produce a lot of hiss or fuzz, and the ground wire from the pickups is soldered to the volume pot and the bridge pole, which when touched, will take away the buzz because the ground current travels through your body and into the ground. That's a basic nuderstanding of what happens, I'm sure someone could go into a long detailed explanation, but I can't. Quote
westhemann Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 check your grounds, you may have a cold solder joint. it is a ground problem,NOT a natural thing. oh,and once again, make your topic title more descriptive Quote
