mcbmoreno
Hey, I'm building an acoustic and am at the point where I need to cut the channel for the binding. Does anybody have any ideas on what to use to cut the channel? I planned on using my router with a rabbeting bottom bearing bit but I can't find any bearings that will allow for the correct width of cut. I really don't feel like spending the 50-60 bucks for stew mac's bit and bearing. Anybody got any advice. Thanks, Mike
Jehle
Check out the "Les Paul the hard way" on Jon Tirone's site. There's a few tricks with some PVC pipe and a Dremmel that you can use. http://europa.spaceports.com/~fishbake/lpc/rbod/routbod.htm

I'll take a picture and post it. It works really well. Also, Benedeto has a simple technique. He uses a homemade guide on his router that has two bearings to set your distance. I'll scan the image and post it as well.
mcbmoreno
Great thanks for the help. I'll check that stuff out and that would be great if you could scan that stuff too.
