Mickguard
Sorry, got lots of question --and searching the forum didn't help. For the next guitar I'm planning to carve in some strat-style arm and hip curves. But since the wood (ash) I have isn't very thick, I'm also tempted to cap the guitar in some 0.5 cm maple. My question: how do you go about carving in this situation? Seems to me that the carve will go deeper than the cap. Is this an issue? common? I plan on painting the guitar a solid color anyway. But I'm wondering how others do this? Edited February 15, 2005 by idch

Thanks for the heads up.
ThePlague
if you're going to paint it a solid color, you could always just carve through the top.
Devon Headen
Yeah, I wouldn't do the extra work a drop top involves if you're going to paint it a solid color anyway.
