sprockets247 Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I have an old (80's) Chandler Strat type body that I want to put a Flame Top on. It's blue now, I will strip it. If I do the bookmatch top, like in the tutorials, what do I do about the edge of the lam? I was thinking about sanding down the edges, so they blend in with the curves of the body, and then finishing the body in a "honeyburst", going from black edges, to hide the seam between the lam top and the body, to a honey dye middle. I am looking for more how-to's and guides to help me along. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 You're definately on the right track, the burst will hide the edge just fine. The hardest part of the whole project is trimming the veneer after the glue dries. Just take your time and use really sharp blades Quote
Brian Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Yes but be careful, even with really sharp blades on the inside curve cuts the edge of the razor tends to want to cut with the grain. Once you have it trimed as close as possible then you can start the sanding process. Quote
