bcjim Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Has anyone ever decoupaged a guitar body? I was thinking of doing it with a band poster like Iron Maiden. Does anyone know if this will work and if so, will it look good? Quote

Marzocchi705 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 If its not smoot could you not just shoot lots of clear over it? Would that work? Quote

Billy Bones Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I just heard about an idea, I think you shoot laquer onto the poster, and then when it's dry wash the back off with water, the ink stays on the laquer, and the poster material washes away. It sounds like fun to try out. I'd think it'd show up best on a guitar that was primered white or light. Quote
Vendelcrow Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Hi, Many of the Korean cheapo flamed/quilt top guitars these days are in fact decoupaged, since most of them just have a plain photo finish top and not the real stuff. You can spot them miles away, since they don't have the quality and deepth of a real wood top. In my book they just look tacky. Vendelcrow Quote
Guest Brockyman Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 If I remember rightly, aren't the Paisley patterns on Fender telecasters just pasted on and laquered over? I'm sure thay used to be many years ago. Ian. Quote
tirapop Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Yep. The paisley and floral Teles/Strats were patterns on paper (wallpaper I've read), glued down and covered in clear. Quote
