duo2 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Share Posted April 13, 2005 Im in the market for a tube amp right now and the local music store has a really nice Fender Deville 410. It sounds great until I hit a bass note really hard. Whenever I hit a note like that the amp makes a cracking sound that kind of disrupts the sound of the note. It doesn't do this when treble notes are played. I wasn't able to ask the owner about it because he was busy with another customer and I had an appointment I had to get to. And I was playing my guitar through it so I know that that isn't the problem. Do any of you guys have any idea what this problem could be caused by? Any help would be appreciated. Gorecki Posted April 14, 2005 Report Share Posted April 14, 2005 It could be as simple as tubes going bad and showing so while under strain. High frequency notes don't demand nearly as much power as low frequency notes and it could be that when you romp on it is when it shows. This aside, if it isn't tubes, I would move on. Im gonna see if I can talk to the shop about putting some different tubes in and letting me play it again and if they don't maybe i'll just buy one off of musiciansfriend.
