sonrisavertical
Dear All, This is simply an awesome site! I need your expert opinion on the following: Doing my first project. A Strat (How original, ah?) I have the body already, I need a neck. I have two guitars with necks I really like and I am basically hoping I can find a neck as close to any of these two: 1) 1996 American Standard Maple fretboard 2) 1982 Kramer Pacer series neck (original logo) Maple fretboard. The catch: Before I spend on an original Fender neck, do any of the necks out there by some of the companies like Warmoth, StewMac, Mighty Mite, AllParts, and so on measure up in the overall feeling and functionality from the necks I just mentioned? Would you guys recommend one over the other? Or are they all pretty much the same? Thank you for the help! erikbojerik
Yep. USA Custom. For the price, they give you a whole bunch of options as to nut width, back contour, fretwire size, radius, etc. The fretwork is excellent. You'll need to shave a little off the headstock if you want to copy the strat exactly, but its easy to do. Tommy (the owner) is a great guy. marksound
I've had pretty good luck with Mighty Mite, but the frets usually need to be leveled and the ends smoothed a bit. For a first project though, I'd probably go with USACG.
