mdw3332
Tandy Dyes Anybody ever used this stuff? A friend used it on a Mondolin kit and the pictures looked pretty good. Not sure what, if any, advantage they would offer over traditional stuff.

Drak
For what exactly? Stew-Mac sells the Fieblings for staining fretboards, which I use it for, but not for dying bodies or such.
rhoads56
id suggest looking at food dyes. Cheaper, and available from the local store too Im joking
thedoctor
Rhoades, that was the longest post I have ever seen. Literally. Before the laughter from your post dies down, I must confess to useing RIT fabric dye mixed with boiling water, linseed oil and CRC Brakleen (triclorethane). RIT makes them some strong colors, in particular, their reds/crimsons.
Tony J Malmsteen
I used some leather dye on a mahogany guitar and it WOULD NOT DRY! Whenever you touched the wood you got a handful of dye. This was months after i'd applied it too! I thought that trying to seal it with a wax or oil would stop the problem but the dye just kept coming off. Never again
Devon Headen
In Siminoff's mandolin construction book, he uses leather dyes. It's a usable idea, but I'd stick to wood dye--it's actually made for wood
