ELXVintagefade
If I have a 25" scale length does that mean the fretboard is 25" long or the whole neck is 25" long
Strange Fruit
from the nut to the bridge Matt
feylya
It means that from the bridge side of the nut to the bridge is 25" inches long. As a side to this thread, I just measured the length of my epiphone and it 25.5" long to the posts and another 10/16's to the blocks!! Any idea why? I'm going to assume you mean 25.5 to the first bar, then 10/16 to the second one. The scale length is really only the length of string that vibrates when you play. Because the string is muted as it goes over the first bar, with the saddles, it does not vibrate behind it, and thus the measurement from bridge to tailpiece (the 10/16ths) is not included in the scale length. feylya
Sorry, I meant saddles. Couldn't think of the word at the time. It's a standard 2 post trem that I'll be converting to a floyd rose in the next couple of weeks. Just thought it'd be a bit weird to have a 26" or so scale length!
