fryovanni
Godin, It is also called Obeche. I have been looking at a very plentiful supply of very nice boards. Some with very nice figure. I just hesitate because I have never used it. It seem to have a lot of potential, it is cheap. When I say potential I am refering to general propertise. Like I said I have never built with it. I may just buy a stock of it and see how it works. If it sucks I suppose it will keep me warm this winter. BTW this is very bright wood (in terms of color, and flecking is really cool.). Batfink
I may be wrong but i think a lot of original Shergold guitars had Obeche bodies. Not that thats a great help in how it is to work with but it does prove that someone did use it for 'mass' produced guitars. Jem
fryovanni
I found some info (not guitar specific). It indicates it should not be used for areas that require strength. From what I have read and based on what I see from looking it over. My gut is telling me it may be somewhat like a cross between Basswood and African Mahogony. Here is a quick link.
