shanter Posted July 24, 2005 Report Share Posted July 24, 2005 You dont need to put a finish on the fretboard but its highly reccomended to put a finish on the neck itself...the finish actually helps prevent warping. someone confirm this. american_jesus Posted July 27, 2005 Report Share Posted July 27, 2005 the finish on the back of the neck/headstock area helps to keep moisture out, thus helping to eliminate the chance of warping/cracking of the wood. and you dont need to finish ebony, it's like rosewood...no need to finish it.
