Southpa Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 (edited) Here's one finishing touch on my maple tele. Just something on the side. I made a couple rings for mounting my neck pickup (SD Hotstack). The one on the right was just a prototype and came out too small to cover the cavity. I just finished the larger one, only took me about 45 min. . Jeweller's saw, medium bastard (luv saying that) file, 1/4" half round file and 320, 600, 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit paper is all I used. I also went for my own mounting screw configuration. The material is 1/8" , 1-side scratch resistant plexi. I plan to use some pearlescent Xmas wrapping paper (of all things) as a backing for the clear plexi, cool stuff. I'll be posting pics of the finished guitar pretty soon. Gemleggat Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I remember my school techy teacher making me polish the edge of an plexi keyring i made with Brasso (metal/brass polish). It took ages but it came out really well. Just if you need to polish the edges a little. They remind me of gretsch pup rings.nice Quote
