bluespresence Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 I think the best thing to do is go to your local music shop with a tape measure....play a bunch of basses and decide which ones fit you best. Measure them out and make yours aorund the dimensions you like. Quote
Curtis P Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 i second that, when i was thinking of building a guitar a few years ago, i took a pad of paper, a pencil and a tailors tape, and played a few guitars, mesured the waist, horns, butt, that kinda stuff, wrote it all down, sometimes i would do a little sketch of the stuff and go from there.... Good luck with it Curtis Quote
erikbojerik Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 I did the same thing when measuring nut sizes, neck thicknesses & tapers, and string spacing on some basses, brought a digital caliper and a notepad, spent about an hour at my local music shop. It was quite the conversation starter when the guys found out I was intending to build a bass. Quote
