LookingForInfo
Hi, I hope i am in the correct thread for this, so here it goes. I am trying to find out information about my guitar. Anyone know anything about it? Who made it? Possibly what it's worth? Any info would be great ! thanks! http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/4853/1000287a7sr.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5086/1000...ted24uj.opt.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1799/10002904eq.opt.jpg http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/6718/10002834mv.opt.jpg http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/6044/10002882cs.opt.jpg Edited October 5, 2005 by bluespresence
Devon Headen
Totally off the wall guess, but it looks like Larry Robinson. It reminds me a lot of the guitars he has in his inlay book. Even if that's right I really have to idea about price. I'd imagine quite a lot if you could find someone that appreciates massive inlays like that. EDIT: Just got a thought. If you want to ask Larry, his website is http://robinsoninlays.com/
bigdguitars
whomever made jerry garcia's guitar that bridge looks kinda like the one I remember at least the style of it.

jnewman
whomever made jerry garcia's guitar that bridge looks kinda like the one I remember at least the style of it. ← That'd be Alembic, wouldn't it? It looks a lot like a rougher Alembic bridge/tailpiece, but they don't usually do all that crazy inlay....
rokeros
I don't remember the name, but there is this guy in taiwan who sells massively inlayed stuff on ebay and some guitars that are as muchly inlayed as yours go check it out. Try searching on ebay something like "Inlay Fretbaord" or something etc and you should be able to track him down.
erikbojerik
The bridge looks like an Alembic....the tailpiece maybe. But Alembics usually sport that mushroom-cloud inlay on the headstock. Looks like a custom job.
Batfink
I'm really not sure that's one of Larry Robinson's - the inlay's too fussy, he tends to have a more of a theme rather than inlay anything that moves. I'd also say that's nothing to do with the Taiwanese off the shelf stuff. I'd say that's it's a one off "in the style" of Alembic which again gives the Larry Robinson connection but i still have an overwhelming feeling it's nothing to do with him - there's just too much inlay on it. Saying that, when all's said and done it's a nice peice of late 70's early 80's guitar kitsch. Jem
Devon Headen
I agree with you about the random feeling of the inlay. I was just thinking it could be earlier in his career before he got the sense of direction he has now. Although for all I know, he's always had the sense of direction. Still can't hurt to ask him. jnewman
Have you looked under the pickups and in the control cavity? There very well may be a label hiding somewhere...
