billsterl Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I need a set of tele templates. Does any one have them to sell? Also is it common practice to make a working template from the master set? It so what materials is best masonite or mdf? New to this-thanks. Quote
Simo Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 http://guitarbuildingtemplates.com/ I would advise that you make copies of the master templates, even when using a guided router bit things can go wrong, better to be safe than sorry. Personally I prefer Masonite or plywood for templates, only because I've snapped a couple of mdf templates when pulling them off the wood (when I've used too much double sided tape ) but other than that mdf works well. Drak Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Heya Bill. What kind of Tele are ya plannin' on building? I have a friggin' Tele breeder factory over here, and loves to hear about another Tele being planned! Quote
GregP Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Instead of tape, you just need to screw the template to your blank. Pick spots that will eventually get routed out anyhow (ie. cavities, assuming that your template doesn't also have the pickup routing integrated into it) and you're golden! Greg Quote
