ansil Posted April 3, 2004 Report Share Posted April 3, 2004 sjaguar13 hey man does your seven string sound kind of life less. my buddy had this problem on his seven string. and he had a choice one better than mine at the time. the nice bubinga stripe down the neck anyway long story short he had a factory wiring job and there were a few problems the 330pf cap across the vol pot was on backwards sucking highend of th guitar. the pots were shot, had whacked out resistance. and his tone capacitor was gone man, it was reading between a dead short and like 15uf. what i did to bring his axe back to life, was put in 1 Meg alpha lin pots added a silver mica 470pf across the correct lugs on the volume control. and the tone i switched the cap to a 2200pf or .0022uf silvermica, and made a blend pot out of it, so he could turn it down for leads and loose a little bottom end and make it a tad brighter to cut trhough for his solos without really loosing anygain. all in all it took like 20 minutes to get it up and running again, all with the stock pickups, now he sounds like a wall of marhsalls, instead of three inch crap. just food for thought.
