correl
Pretty much as the title says, Is an alder neck reasonable? Will it sound good, will it be structually stable?
soapbarstrat
I have old Carvin catalogs that show the Holdsworth model as having an alder neck.
JPL
I have a Carvin with a two piece alder neck through that is very stable. It does have graphite rods added so that has some amount to do with it's strength. Sound? It works for me.
correl
Is it a brighter sound? Im building a neck through, and I have a 48 inch long piece of alder, two pieces of swamp ash for wings and a maple cap for all of it. Any opinions? Im worried im going to get to much of a bouncy unstable high sound.
Jester700
Well, maple bodied guitars are among the brightest I've played, so I imagine an alder neck would sound less bright, if anything.
