Strange Fruit
Awesome robbie. Great to see it started. Looks like its gonna be killer. Just so you know, the admin hate anymore than one picture. so they will edit it, and give you a warning. Which seems silly to me... Any way, hope to see this one in the flesh at some point! Matty EDIT: Love the gluing jig for the through neck too. Bloody toolmakers, they're a smart bunch... Calum_Barrow
Whoa, beautiful top. Andy Fellows? (I recognise the planer cause it's on the pic of the top I bought from him too) Not to keen on the shape of the bass, but I don't like many designs that stand out. Each to his own of course, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who don't like my double neck design.
rokeros
Excellent. But you better follow the rules aight?

erikbojerik
I like your glue press! Do you have some kind of non-stick lining in there? Or did you leave out the wax paper for the photo? Nice top wood also. Edit: Ah ok, now I see the bottom shim is papered over.
RIM Basses
I have a packing piece of MDF behind the neck blank and its covered in a teflon barrier which is non stick. It works real well.

Jon
The tops look great. And that fingerboard looks amazing, I think I saw one similar to it on ebay not too long ago. What kind of gluing jig is that? How much did you pay for it?
RIM Basses
Hi All, I made the gluing Jig myself,Im a Toolmaker by trade so its all about Jig and fixtures in my game.Today I glued on the Asian Ebony Headstock cap, taken from the offcut of the bookmatch. The Delano SBC HE/S Pickup turned up today also,it looks great and should go well with the Noll Preamp.I'll post pics of the preamp tomorrow, its all pre-wired and has top conponents. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otis...23012006181.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otis...23012006180.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otis...23012006178.jpg Trussrod is in and Im just waiting for the carbon fiber rods to turn up, http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otis...21012006176.jpg Some more Redwood, this piece is 24x14x1 1/2 inches in size.Gonna be used for a one piece body or maybe more BKmatched tops http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otisband/673a.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/otisband/673.jpg Photos are TOO Large Edited January 23, 2006 by Scott Rosenberger

Jon
Looking great, keep us up to date. I can't wait to start my 6 string fretless, I already have all the wood purchased. Semi-hollow Mahogany body. Cocoblo top. Neck thru design, consiting of Wenge, Padauk and Maple. I just need to purchase the maple and I'm set. Your basses really are a change of design / pace from what I have been seeing. Keep up the great work.
skibum5545
As always, it's great to see new members posting full-on build reports-- especially when they're building basses, and especially(er?) when the basses are of this caliber. While I'm not too fond of the shape, your customer is, and that's what matters. Given the quality of parts and labor, this build will no doubt be spectacular when finished. Just for the record, PG.com get's kinda strict and uptight about picture posting rules, so you're not the first newcomer to get skewered for them. However, I felt the overwhelming peer pressure of this forum ( ) so I need to get on ya about one more thing-- when posting links, you can use the link posting button up on the toolbar so that instead of us seeing www.ambiguousphotohoster.com/user/photos/bigwoodbuilder/woodbassone/update6andahalf/0000100023040201b.jpg, we see My New Ebony Top (If you can't figure out why this link doesn't work, it's because it isn't a link.) Good. Now that I've done the necessary ragging, this bass is spectacular and will no doubt sound, play, and look wonderful. I'll be sure to check back here for updates!
