I once owned a stratocaster (the 'powerhouse') that had an active midboost when you turned up one of the tone knobs. Could I modify my current strat with one'a those? How?

Yes. Purchase a TBX from your favorite Fender dealer and follow the instructions, although given your last thread post I'd spend some more time practicing soldering and fixing your current problems with the guitar first.
