boonk
I am still looking for wood for my bass. Is maple good to use for the wings on a neckthrough, and the neck will be maple and walnut or maple and bubinga. thanks all, what type of sound would i get from this? Nitefly SA
maple is very bright, maybe walnut or mahogany wings would sound better, wait for a better opinion though
Doeringer
Nitefly is right, also alder or ash will warm up the tone, basswood too but not much of an interesting grain there.
fryovanni
All Maple is fine for a bass. An all Bubinga guitar would be bright and heavy, but it suits a bass very well. Selection of wood for a bass is not quite the same as a guitar. Peace,Rich
whitey
on a neckthrough i would use bubinga,i love the sound it gives on my tobias, and i've played a warwick neckthrough with bubinga wings and the same model with swamp ash,the bubinga was a lot ''louder'' i cant describe.but definatly had more sustain and since u would only be using it for the wings it wont be as heavy
