The neck depth is the STD depth of 5/8" and yet im finding i need to raise the trem considerably to meet with the neck when strung.

It looks like i should chizel a deeper neck pocket but i was wondering if there might be somehting i have over looked,

Any help would be great

Cheers

No, you haven't overlooked anything.

The heel and the pocket...

Those are the two things you have to look at.

Since you probably don't want to mess with the heel, the pocket is where you have to make your adjustments.

Chris, a sanding block will not make a perfectly flat surface in an enclosed area like that. Have you thought about a router? If you can set up some protective covering over the body you can carefully run a template bit over the neck pocket area. This will leave it flat. Or you could use a chisel. Just make sure it is sharp and it will work fine.
