thegarehanman
What do you want the leds to do? As of now they'll turn on when the cable is plugged in. Be careful to make sure you have the current flowing the correct way through the leds, and also make sure that the combined resistance of the leds in series is enough to prevent them from burning up. smileynumber13
Well I am not very good at wiring (hence reading this forum a lot) and I was wondering if you need the battery in this setup, or if the power running from the jack would be enough? My apologies if this is dumb, I'm pretty unfamiliar with what currents go through the guitar from the amp, etc. So... just curious.. : )
psw
Hmmm...i'm sure this has been covered already... anyway...as thegarehanman says make sure that the combined resistance of the leds in series is enough to prevent them from burning up. if it is a 9 volt you will need to lower the voltage. Just use a resistor of suitable size in series (as if another led) to drop it down...very simple. Also...you are risking the chrismas tree light effect here. All those LED's chained to gether in series means that if one goes, they all go. In parrallel, if one goes the others stay lite...however...they will shine brighter as they will take up the slack from the dead one...you may end up with them all burning out as a consequence...doh! So, it's a choice you have to make. smileynumber13...hmmm My apologies if this is dumb apology accepted . Yes it is, but it does come up from time to time. No power comes up the guitar lead, it runs from the guitar to the amp...and...the amount of power is very, very tiny and only when a string is struck. Nothing like enough to generate light!!! smileynumber13
apology accepted . Yes it is, but it does come up from time to time. Lol, thanks Like I said I know pretty much nothing about electronics except what I have read so far.. but thanks for enlightening me. Take care!
